So basically I wanted to start this thread to recommend anime that would often be passed up for whatever reason.

This is a place to recommend shows you personally have enjoyed but it seems others are hesitant to start.

I'll start off with Knights Of Sidonia

I have just gotten around to marathoning the second season and good freaking god. This is one of the only series that I can watch and actually lose track of time to the point of getting confused whenever the ending credits roll.

I always see people saying they don't want to start it because its a CGI anime (Second season has alot of hand drawn back grounds or what appeared to be hand drawn); and whenever I see people saying that, I actually feel sorry for them, I feel sorry that they are missing out on one of the best Scifi works in the past 10 years.

The music is great, the action is great and the characters are all likable, I think the closest thing I can compare KoS to is Evangelion if Shinji actually grew a pair and became an utter bad-ass.

So what are some shows that you have personally enjoyed but many other seem to avoid?

The Monogatari Series

I think the main two reasons everybody avoids this show is; the fanservice and the dialogue.
But those are the two reasons why I love the show.

There are a few but the one that suprised me on crunchyroll was [link url=http://www.crunchyroll.com/otome-yokai-zakuro]Otome Youkai Zakuro . I guess there were a lot of popular anime that season so this was a sleeper hit. A historical romance set in the Meiji Reformation. It's a nice blend of Inuyasha and Kimi ni Todoke. The artwork is gorgeous.

A lot of people seem to pass up these due to art style.

This, i wouldn't say it's an amazing anime, but it deserves some love.

I would say a lull in the sea. but i'm biased and it's my favorite. there are more but this is always first in my head
