I just received an email from Crunchyroll notifying that Samsung SmarTVs will be no longer supported?
Why that?
I only have a premium subscribtion to have access to Crunchyroll's content in my smartv.

It's a disgrace, I too only got premium membership because I could watch on my tv. Why the hell would they go backwards?

Same here. If I cannot watch with my Samsung TV anymore there's no need for me to keep the premium subscription.
I'm wondering how CR is planning to repay all the users who want to quit now since they cannot watch anymore?

I have the app on my Panasonic Bluray player, and since that runs the same as the Panasonic TVs there goes my ability to watch CR on my TV. =(

Hi there,
Thank you for letting us know how you feel about Crunchyroll no longer supporting the Samsung Smart TV. It does mean that
access through it will end on July 15th, and yes it also applies to Samsung Smart blue ray/DVD players.

If your primary usage of Crunchyroll is through your Samsung and you have no other way of enjoying Crunchyroll, then it's
completely understandable that you might need to cancel your subscription.

If you do need to cancel just reply confirming your cancelation. We hate to lose you, and we hope you will find an
alternative way to enjoy your anime.

Here are some other devices you can watch Crunchyroll through:

Hi Salyavin,
i'm in the same boat usually watch on my panasonic TV, unfortunately while i'm sure the support in the US is great unfortunately if you are outside of the US it is very poor.
the available devices is useless. i would like to use my PS4 seeing the tv is dropped however thats not an option either. i could use chromecast but given the extra delay with simulcasts on the mobile app makes it useless for much of what i want to use it for. yes i could purchase a ruko but it would only be used for this one thing which i am already paying for with the understanding that i had supported devices.
In a way i do understand as the quality and stability of the service has been declining and which is why i changed my yearly subscription to not automatically renew so that i could review it closer to the time. doing this you can focus and fix the issues.
From Australia.
also a heads up as the crunchyroll facebook page is a bit of a 1 spot stop for all countries when announcing new animes to the line up would be useful to say what countries it will be for, or in the event that list is too large and there is only a handful that it wont be for then say the areas it wont be for.

It is also possible to use a PC as the source for Chromecast. In some cases signing out and back in on the Android app might also help, as there is some caching involved.

My primary TV is a Panasonic and the TV in front of my treadmill is a Samsung, and you're telling me neither will be able to play CR anymore? WTF? Two of the largest TV brands you are no longer supporting? Between this and the queue being messed up, what the hell is goin on with Crunchyroll lately?

I also specifically bought a Panasonic TV because it had the CR app, so these news are quite upsetting, but I'll wait until the 15th to see what happens.

I will also wait until 15th.
If it does indeed stop working, I will cancel my subscription and request a refund of what I paid in advance.

Yes many of us buy hardware based on crunchyrolls recommendation and to be told to do so again is madness. Are they changing DRM or something? Even if they don't update it not sure why things should stop. A commercial service should not make things harder than torrents, it should be easier. netflix or prime I don't see stopping work on devices 2 years old.

I just looked at the Samsung apps . It's gone already from there ... maybe because Samsung's flash player is way outdated & they aren't going to update it . I think they may be moving to HTML5 player ...

My guess is someone has done some number crunching(!) and found that the percentage of users on these platforms is not large enough to justify the costs associated with maintaining them - ie. app development, licensing costs, support time...

The SamsungTV app got very little attention from support anyway. There are loads of outstanding issues with it and despite all the years it has been available I don't recall it ever receiving a single update.

My preferred alternative would have been the PS3 app, but this is not available in my region (at least via supported means) so I'm probably going to have to re-consider my options post-July. I'm not sure I can justify new hardware for one app that I only use relatively lightly.
