X-COM: UFO Defense is still the best turn-based strategy game you can find. No nostalgia needed. (In your face 2012 "remake".)

Anyway, I'd have to say the James Bond movies. As a kid one of my friends' father owned a lot of them on VHS and we used to watch them while hanging out at his house. Looking back (and even at the time) they're hokey and misogynistic. Casino Royale is really one of the only films in the series that could be considered a good movie in its own right, but I'm still somewhat fond of them despite all their warts.

"I mean sir, who would pay a million dollars to have me killed?"

"Jealous husbands! Outraged chefs! Humiliated tailors! The list is endless!"

Like most little girls my age, I was OBSESSED with High School Musical. I basically knew all the songs. Now whenever I see it I groan with all the guys and the few other girls that have sense in them. Good memories, though.

I never played it but it's just so overhyped lol. The only FF I played was X and X-2.

Can you really say it is over-hyped without actually playing it? Regardless of that point, I've played every Final Fantasy excluding the MMO's, and I have to say that VII is far from the best (in my opinion). It had its fine points, but overall I feel that other games outshine it, like my favorite, VI, for example.

When I was a kid, I absolutely loved Star Wars: Bounty Hunter despite not really liking Star Wars overall. I've not heard a lot about the game, and I see that the reviews aren't so good, but I thought it was a great game. There is also some Frogger game and a few others that I think are probably much worse than I remember them being.

I loved DBZ as a kid, but looking back at it, that show had more holes and asspulls than I could count.

I remember really liking Teen Titans, 6teen, Ghibli films, Winx Club, and Scooby Doo. I think I could still watch all those today and still enjoy them quite bit, especially Teen Titans.

- The 90's Marvel Cartoons... especially Spiderman and X-men. Holy cow were they freaking terrible. The dialogue was cheesy as hell, the story jumped around like they automatically assumed their audience had ADHD and the animation was already outdated in the 80's.

- First Spiderman movie... yeah not so good now but Spiderman 2 is still my GOAT. Not even my childhood blinders could make the X-men movie atrocities good the first time around though.

- The Nickelodeon comedy shows/sitcoms. I'd say Drake and Josh and the better Amanda Show skits are the only ones still funny. Trying to watch All That, Kenan and Kel, and iCarly now is akin to smashing my head in with a hammer. Saying and doing random stupid shit while talking in over-exaggerated and annoying voices does not make it funny. It's still just stupid and random shit.

- The Power Rangers. Yikes. Still good cornball fun though and as I got more into Super Sentai, it's been fun pointing out the differences and seeing where they used Japanese footage lol.

As for games? Eh, can't really think of any. Apparently my brother and I have always had great taste in that department because of a lot of the games we enjoyed as children even the more obscure ones are regarded as classics (or at least acknowledged as well made games) now. I can still go back to Hamtaro: Ham Ham Heartbreak and marvel at how a licensed children's game was made with so much care.

A lot of the CN shows I watched are still good too... actually, I'd say they're even better now as I get more of the jokes and can appreciate how well written they were. This is especially true for the Powerpuff Girls, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Justice League.

When it comes to video games, cartoon shows, and movies it's pretty much the exact opposite: the things I used to like as a kid I learned to like them even more now as a realize how good they were, especially when I take off the nostalgia goggles. The only exception I could think of is A New Hope which I like less and less as time goes on even though that movie is also good.

When it comes to things I used to like as a kid that I now know is bad I would have to say... McDonald's; out of all major fast food chains I don't understand how I could have liked that stuff, especially the McNuggets and the fries...

it has already happened in plain view...
Ushio and Tora has made its debut on CrunchyRoll and is nothing more than a lazy production company giving a good show that has reached antique status to a mediocre anime team to regurgitate something acceptable. Went back after to rewatch original animation to test nostalgia theory only to find that while the animation style is the late 80's early 90's type the quality in the disposition and dispensation of the story still exceeds what we are being subjected to now.
Maybe the question posed isn't accurate...perhaps we should be asking if there is a difference if the unkyo ( poop ) on our front porch is better because its in a prettier package instead of a flaming bag...
ps...the quality works of Rumiko Takahashi and Masamune Shiro prove that nostalgia is only a buzzword ppl use to cover their behinds when they fail to meet the expectations of ppl who have come to recognize quality thru experience...ty
