So i've noticed that when i've been watching anime about 15 minutes in my phones back becomes very hot, about 30 minutes later my phones front becomes extremly hot, and my battery power was going down really fast and it even went down with the charger in, so I think it was over heating and when I checked my battery power crunchyroll was responsible for 37% of battery life, (and display had taken up 32%), It may be the fact that I hold my phone with my hands on the back or something or maybe because its so hot in britain since its summer and my hands were sweaty I dunno. Does anyone know anything about this?

Content too fire.

The heat around you can also contribute to it. But usually why it overheats is bc of too much going on for your phone.
Certain Apps on some phones can take up a lot of memory, which takes up a lot of battery too.
I have a feeling that you either just were running too many apps at once at the time for your phone, or bad design/programming(?) of the CR app for w/e phone you're using (Android or iPhone).
I don't use the CR app on my phone (just my ps3 & Vita tbh), so I'm not completely sure.

Don't charge your phone and do something battery intensive on it at the same time. You should only charge your phone when it is either (a) off or (b) sleep (screen off). The charger itself heats the device because it is charging the battery and you doing something such as watching HD video (probably with screen brightness at 100%) along with your background tabs (if the Crunchyroll application wasn't the only one) and no duh that your device heats up bad. You *can* charge your phone and watch HD video with screen brightness at 100% with WiFi on and probably Bluetooth on, etc. but you shouldn't be surprised when your device gets hot. Crunchyroll isn't doing anything to your device other than serving you HD video that you requested.

Eh, any video-streaming application will over-heat your phone. I know mine overheats for anything, lol.

I know Samsung has had the issue of overheating Galaxies since the most recent software update. I've got the same overheating issue with my S5. Their response to it was essentially "We'll get around to fixing it eventually."

I have an iPhone 4S and it's not uncommon for it to get a little hot when doing anything involved (like watching videos). It's also not uncommon for the battery life to drop drastically (again when watching videos). Unless it's hot enough to burn my hand or melt the phone casing, I don't worry too much about it.

I've got an htc and it drains from time to time. One day, I could last the whole day without a charger and it'd only drop 3%, other times, in one hour it drains 50% of my phone. I don't really think Crunchyroll is necessarily the problem, more or less, it's probably your phone.

Crunchyroll is not the issue... Your phone sounds defective (or getting there at least) if it's losing power and heating that bad. Phones might be smaller PC's essentially, but they are not affected the same way or function with the same set of rules. You shouldn't be charging a phone in the first place unless it's actually low on battery. It's bad for the battery life. Also, don't charge and stream at the same time. As others have stated, the more you have going on the worse it is for your phone. Being summer time probably doesn't help either. Some phones simply handle temperatures better anyways due to materials used and the resource distrubution.
