It'll probably come up in a news article soon, but Sentai licensed both Legend of the Galactic Heroes and rescued both seasons of Higurashi.

I'm so excited about this! Hopefully they do collectors box sets for these titles.

LOGH is one of about five series I think is actually worth buying, so I'm pretty excited for this.

Oh my god, I wanted to get Higurashi When They Cry on DVD so damn badly but they were extremely expensive on Amazon.
THANK YOU, SENTAI!!! THANK YOU!!! You can have all my money!!!
Hopefully Sentai will give When They Cry a new dub because the Funi dub was horrible!!!

I won't argue with the quality of the dub, but like the first two Nanoha series distributed by Funimation, wasn't the dub actually one commissioned by Geneon?

Indeed it was.
And like the Nanoha series, FUNimation never actually had the licenses, they were just distributing it for Geneon.

Someone over in the ANN forums asked if Sentai might get the original dub cast back, and I was tempted to respond "I hope not".

I don't know that I would call the dub horrible (although I wouldn't argue with anyone that held that opinion) but I also wouldn't call it good. I would grade it as mediocre at best.

Given how The Familiar of Zero series has been handled thus far, I expect Sentai would be happy to let the first series stand with its original dub and release the remainder sub-titled only, unless interest justifies otherwise.

If they end up doing it in the same release method as they are with Space Brothers, it'll probably be around 9, or 10 max volumes containing 12 episodes each.

Of course, there may be better ways they could go with but this is just an example.

I saw that comment on there as well. While I'm not too bothered about whether it'll have a dub or not, I'm more hoping for Higurashi getting a Blu-Ray LE release. With the series recently getting BD-Boxes in Japan last year, it wouldn't be too crazy to ask for. Albeit we'd might have to wait a while given Sentais' release methods.

LOGH: Your Wallet Is Not Ready

The main OVA is 110 episodes, and I believe normal Sentai box sets are 12-13 episodes, at least for initial releases. Even if they go with 14 episodes in some sets, you would be looking at least 8 box sets.

Does Sentai even have any 100+ episode series in their catalog we could compare this to for a physical release? I can't think of any at the moment.

I believe their longest series they've released is Space Brothers, which is only 99 episodes. But it's being released as 12-episode collections.
