Have you ever went past the weeaboo phase earlier in your life? Like you would start using Japanese words in your sentences and started to think that you were Japanese? Loads of people seemingly go past this phase when they were younger and then later grow out of it but I never found myself in this phase, (watching anime and reading manga doesn't make you a weeaboo automatically) But have you found yourself or your friends in this phase?

For one week, then I moved on.

I was never in that phase too (thank god).
I would only use Japanese words & honorifics ironically, but that's it.

Yes...and looking back on it, it was embarrassing af. Lasted throughout my freshman year. But then I started playing football the same year and throughout high school, the weeaboo phase gradually passed. Just thinking about it makes me want to run into a wall.

I personally did not go through it, but I had a classmate who most definitely was one.

Just being around her was...cringe-worthy, to say the least.

Nope, and the ones I knew in High School were definitely the reason I didn't get deep into anime until my mid 20's

No, I love anime, but I'm not that passionate about it. The culture, while it interests me, isn't the centerpiece on my life, and I don't really use the language (although I know a few words). I'm ambivalent about the word, while sometimes appropriate,. Its normally just useful as jealous hate.

Surprisingly no. I say surprisingly because I've always been strange so I wouldn't have been shocked if I caught on to the whole weeaboo thing but I seemed to avoid it. I went on a hardcore binge watching streak when I got into it, but I never viewed Japan and its culture as superior or started incorporating Japanese words into my lexicon. In fact, even including the people I've known that like anime I never saw them act like a weeaboo so there you go.

No, I think I mocked people using Japanese words rather than actually giving a crap about trying to be Japanese.

LOL. This is a thing?

Nah. Even when I had no clue who I was (Even now, I haven't nailed it down completely), I never was good at being anything other than myself. I do find that I have picked up terms and phrases from many people I have been around throughout my life. Some stick with me, and become part of who I am, others fade as I move forward into new parts of life. I think that is fairly typical, though.... a part of most humans' ability to adapt to their surroundings.

I gotta admit, buying a huge Naruto painting and nailing it on my wall sounded a lot cooler before it got here and i felt like a huge fucking weeaboo.
