Do people always grow out of their preferences?
Posted 7/3/15
Like, I used to find those skinny, feminine, pretty boys in anime (and in general) more attractive & muscular, strong, more masculine men completely unattractive.
Now I really don't. I find stronger & muscular men more attractive now.
Can't say I completely don't find skinny/feminine guys attractive anymore though.
Its just I never found muscular/strong looking men attractive until over a year ago. So I thought, maybe I might start to grow out of the skinny guy preference to the point I'll find them completely unattractive now.
With my guy friends, they said they used to find skinny girls hot, now they prefer chubby or curvy looking girls.
But there are guys their age that always found those girls attractive.
I'm pretty much the same. I find curvy & chubby girls more attractive than skinny girls now.

What do you guys think?

The most I've noticed is that my preferences changed with age. When I was a 15 year old, I preferred persons who looked cute for a 15 year old; now I like people who look cute for a 20 something year old; the overall trend has been appreciating men who look more adult.

Sounds about right for a kids perspective. The older you get the more you want "mature" preferences. For most it seems that way at least.

You'll grow out of all sorts of things. This will continue to happen until you die.

The problem with young people is they have not realized this, yet, so everything seems completely absolute.

Then, when you start to grow and change, you hurt some people in the process (usually).

Don't beat yourself up or worry too much. It happens. Just try to learn from everything you experience.

I like my man manly, but no hair <.< I don't like hair
But I mean, it was like that 10 years ago, didn't change
I don't feel like I'm aging neither O_O;;;

Haha. I don't think so. Change usually does slow... just never stops. And everyone is different.

I would assume that most people's tastes would evolve over time caused by personal experiences and maturity.

More to do with mortality than maturity.

Hmm yeah.
I guess when your in your early teens you find older women attractive, like prolly get off to womem WAY older than you but when you get older you go backwards and prefer women too young for you.
I never used to be attracted to Asians, now i am very much so.
I wouldn't say that i have grown out of anime but i guess it dose not excite me or i wont have marathons like i used to.
When i go to cons i feel old and kinda wish i was younger again.
I still love video games, in some ways i enjoy them more these days due to the multi player aspects but i spose video games were more exciting as a kid.
I grew bored of going out into the city/pubs getting drunk every weekend.
I grew bored of wanting to hang out with all my mates every single weekend(as far as just sitting around).
I was always told that i would grow out of rap music, i haven't BUT i have grown out of certian types of rap to an extent and i dont think rap makes me as cool i used to lol ( i was never one of those that thought i was gangsta or hard listening to it though ). And i have really expanded my taste, i still mostly listen to hip hop but i like other types of music now.
Guess i grew out of making my own rap songs.
I grew out of being a stoner.
Grew out of a little graffetti phase.
Stopped buying anime merchandise(mostly). But thats partly a money thing also.
I grew out of collecting so many cd's and buying every single games console that came out (last console i bought was an xbox 360(iam a pc gamer though)).
I have recently kind of grown out of staying up so late all the time and getting drunk regulary.

EDIT: not sure if this was only supposed to be about taste in what you find attractive?

My preferences haven't really changed from the time I was really young, so far as I can tell. Still like the same types of girls, same activities, same everything, basically.

This is just an idea, but I believe your preferences in men/women will change by the people you meet and become attracted to. For example, I wasn't the biggest fan of short hair until I met someone with short hair, who I think is adorable. Now I love short hair. I guess what I'm saying is your preferences changed when you found someone you're attracted to who is different from what you usually prefer.

I believe this goes beyond just attraction to others, but your taste in music, games, politics, etc. There is going to be a reason why your preference changes.

I used to not have preferences. Now I do so, hmm. I'm not sure what that means.

I'm certainly uncertain.

It's probably a more redefining of our preference, like learning more accurate words then saying she's pretty.

-"I like you" <-- caveman answer
--"Why? What do you like about me?"
-I like the way your jeans hug you but you don't spill out the top. I like the way your jeans display your butt and when the pants are off the same shape is still there. I like the clothes you choose and love to see you in and out of them. Your hyena laugh makes me smile. Your countless stories, your imaginary friend you still talk to whenever you're lonely, how you call instead of text, your opinions on the shows I watch and staying active about your local, national, and global news. The random book you read and bring home for me to read, coming with me to work out or bringing me along for your workout, etc." <--- educated answer
