This a thousand times. You want quality? This. BF3 was good, but BC2 was amazing.

I'd still take the BF series over any modern CoD game these days though. They ruined that series long before BF.

Yeah i mean COD pumping games out with same old out dated engine year after year. At least BF has updated pretty regulary. Frostbite engine is fantastic.
COD miles behind, yet more popular.

I disagree. CoD is still a better game than most almost any of the recent BF games except BC2/BF3 imo. Graphics don't make a good game, and BF has shown that 2 times now.

I enjoy BF3/BC2 more than CoD, but I would choose Black Ops 2 over BF4/Hardline any day of the week including weekends.

Well to each their own. I used to play COD 4, it was cool. Back then it had better graphics than BF2 and you could shoot through walls(which in BF2 you could not) also in COD 4 it had dedicated servers(not sure why they ever changed this and made it that hosting crap??) also you used to be able to lean around corners in COD, not sure why they removed that?
But COD never really did it for me, the clan i am in did really well in COD 4 but i went back to Battlefield.
COD just is not for me. I dont like the small maps, the no squads, the random spawn points, etc

I did quite enjoy MW2 i prolly put a couple of hundred into that.
i HATED black ops, hated it. Decided i would never buy a COD game ever again.
I have seen people playing them and its just more of the same(i know now they have the adavnced/futuristic weapons and that) , the same old out dated engine, could just be DLC.
I have no interest what so ever in playing single player so if COD is better in that regard then that is irrelevant, for me personally.
And i couldn't care less about zombies either( i only say this becasue i hear this used as to why COD is better).
Its not just about graphics for me(but that helps), and of course COD and BF are completely different games(unless you only play TDM in BF?) to me its more about the destructible environment, that and the leveloution(but more so the destructible environmen) that puts it light years ahead of out dated COD.
On and then there is the 64 players thing to.

EDIT: i never have nor intend to play Hardline. From what i see that aint battlefield.
2ND EDIT: i still play BF4. Think i have put over 400 hours in now.

That's how I see Battlefield right now. Ever since BF3, nothing has changed for the most part. BF4 had some new gimmicks that only ruined the game for me and Hardline is BF4 DLC for full price. Both titles fail to bring new and better stuff, but for me CoD usually still stays CoD. Battlefield has only gotten worse since BF3 because the only things they change are what needed to not change. They added stuff like levolution but all that is is another gimmick to me.

I don't see how you enjoyed MW2, hated Black Ops, and loved Battlefield lol. MW2 was an awful game and the Black Ops series has been the best so far.

Welll, BF4 went from frost bite 2.5 to frost bite 3 (if i recal), they increased the destructible environment a bit, introduced leveloution (which i agree is fantastic at first but grows a little old and can be annoying and as you mentioned), they reintroduced the commander(first time since BF2). Plus you could play as commander from a tablet and the like. And they probably made more bigger maps than BC2 or BF3 which is a good thing.
Over the years they have intorduced rush, TDM, chain link, gun master, CTF, obileration, air superiorty. So even though i admit they are all shit compared to classic conquest at least theres pretty good variety.(its not just an infantary game, not just a vehicle game).
You can play in normal or hardcore(i dont know if COD has this, i forget?)
They also introduced squad perks which i think was a first?
Cant speak for hard line.
What have COD done? new kill streaks? futuristic weapons? zombies? meh. Same engine (unreal) since 1999. But at least they stopped making WW2 games.
But yeah i dont really see what more battlefield can do? The destructible environment and the sound effects still blow me away to this day. And i cant even run the game on ultra.
Dedicated servers for the win. (i did hear that COD were going to reintroduce this though?)
EDIT: MW2 sucked balls as far as no dedicated servers, no leaning, i think they even removed prone(or is that BC2 iam thinking of?). But i dunno, i guess i used to play it with work mates and clan mates and i had some fun on it.
I hated black ops. Shit small maps and explosive remote control cars? lol
Most time i spent on a COD game maybe 200 hours, BF? 800 in BF2, 600 on BC2, 200-300 on 3 and i think over 400 on 4. (cant remember 2142). so obviously iam a battlefield player. Maybe a bit biased but also realistic and factual :P

I don't consider engine upgrades as a change. Graphics aren't that important to me, so I'd rather not see CoD change engines. There was no reason to change the engine from BF3 to BF4/Hardline. And BF3 destructible environments were better than BF4's imo because there was more to destroy. But realistically, BC2 beat both those games when it comes to blowing stuff up.

-Levolution has always been a silly gimmick to me. They tried it in CoD with a couple maps and I hated it.
-Almost all of those game modes existed on CoD before BF. Some long before. I don't like being that guy who says they copied CoD, but they probably did in regards to the new game modes.
-CoD has had hardcore at least since CoD4. I don't know about the ones before.
-Perks already existed in CoD. Yea squad perks are a little different but they have the same idea.
-They only brought back commander mode, and I've never once tried using it on BF4.

CoD hasn't done much either, but no matter what they do, they never add gimmicks to the scale BF has. Dice/EA have tried too hard to beat CoD and made a game that is basically CoD with vehicles. It's ruined the series because CoD elements can't work in a true Battlefield game. I'm sure if you named off everything that's changed in BF4, I could compare it to something in CoD that's existed for a while now.

Even so, I've still put more time in BF games than CoD, because of BF3. Even BF3 had CoD ideas, but they didn't go overboard and most of what they added worked. I've put in around 1000 hours into BF3, a couple hundred in BC2, and 70 into BF4. I've probably put 500 in the CoDs combined. And none in Hardline.

What I liked about 2142 the most of everything else of battlefield is the 1 big improvement of gamemode... Titan, had guns that you could controll also capture to "destroy"/weak that big badass. The most fun was also trying the "new" unit equipment and vehcials like the mechs was damn awesome also some of the fighters (air to ground) and least but not least trying to destroy the enemy core inside thier own base.

BF2 had quite the skill and pathing to a objective (mostly in towns/cities) and there was allways a path to go but some is better some is worse etc.
+ way more inside areas/buildings then any other FPS game or was, like that is one huge deal vs tanks/explosives etc.

I think in games like this graphics are important. But thats me. Kind of did seem like bc2 you could bring down more buildings maybe.
i typing in a hurry but yeah its funny how everyone wants BF to go back to how it was in BF2 even though back then there was no destructible environment.
I dont see what BF can do except go back to way bigger maps and change conquest back like how it used to be?
And your right, no doubt, the fact that COD was outselling BF by X1000 has made them make BF more like COD, which bought about shitty COD style maps and yeah perks.

1943 or 2143 would be interesting and a bit different.
Remember in BF2 you had the combat roll> hasn't been seen since.
Theres a mode kinda like titan in BF4 but you take out a ship...
i dont really like having TOO many insdie areas, but at the same time you dont want them too wide and open with no cover.

I wish Dice/EA understood that they can't beat CoD at being CoD, and just go back to to a BF game. I also wish they would stop implementing Battlelog into the game like they did in BF4. The crap they did with Battlelog helped ruin BF4 for me, because on console the original spot button was moved so that you could look at Battlelog in game. That resulted in a change in the vehicle controls which was a horrible horrible horrible change. The vehicles are so hard to control on console compared to what you could do with BF3.

Yeah your right but sales wise maybe not? they pissed off their core fan base in exchange for all the new players and COD players. $$$$$.....
That sounds very annoying, thankfully as a PC player that wasa non issue for me.
That def would suck!
EDIT: to be honest, its seems taht its mostly the pilots that hate the new battlefields. As an infantry and land vehicle player i think its still great. All my pilot mates hate it.
I heard the sniping is shit too but i rarely snipe in any game so again, didn't effect me.
2ND EDIT: another thing BF introduced over the years was boats/attack boast and the gun ship and bombers, etc. Adain, could be considered both good and bad things at the same time.
I guess the gun ship is almost like a COD kill streak, but its based on having the particular flag/base and the comander applying it.
3RD EDIT: i just accidently joined a server that was no conquest. i jumped in late, it was domination, then it was gun master on locker, then domination on locker. Least fun I've had on BF for a long long time. Could have sworn i was playing COD.....

Yea when the game releases they usually get decent sales from the new players. But in only a few weeks the player population starts to drop. On the PS3, BF4 is empty. You can't find a full server right now or even a half full server. Eventually, I think even the players from CoD are going to realize CoD does CoD better and will stop buying these titles.

I want Bad Company 3, on the original Frostbite game engine. BC2 was lots of fun and everybody I know has been screaming for BC3 since BF3.

Just hopped on Black Ops 2 today. Game is 2 years old now and still has over 100k playing. The only BF game with a good player population 2 years after release was BF3, and you can still find servers there.

Bad company was a bit shit though. if i recal they removed prone? and some maps were just terrible.
But i wouldn't say no to BC3.
Just thought of another thing that BF introduced, the knife animations. Pretty cool! and the counter knife, even though they could have done that better.
Iam pretty sure that BF4 is the highest selling BF by FAR! and the closest that they came to matching COD sales?
BF4 is still reasonably populated on PC. Theres always a few full servers. Time zones apply of course, with a game this old.
Well, i think that this video is long over due in this thread, a tad dated but it really is classic and sums it up perfectly ;
