Yes. I genetically modified all my soldiers in XCOM: Enemy Within, and they all fought aliens a lot better afterwards.

But what about the health effects?

Will they be uncaring and overwhelmingly hateful?

Will they not have the ability to repent of wrong doing or know when they are doing wrong?

They will likely be brainwashed by whatever government creates them and use there superior abilities for that governments aims.

Why does forced evolution have to mean government conspiracy >->

Not that I know the purpose of genetic modifying in China, I think it could have some nice benefits if it could remove certain (possibly) genetic diseases such as Parkinson or Alzheimer 's. Just because some diseases are very hard to live with and cost a lot of money to care for *works in long term care center* otherwise, I think we could leave the rest to evolution..

Do it. Efficient. Better. Worthwhile. Sensible.

Although there are moral arguments against it, we are not using this to take lives. Rather, we improve lives and reduce the effects of illness, age, and injury.

It all boils down to hard facts versus "I don't like it." No sensible person would think this is a fair match.

As I put in my post, humans have stopped evolving, and if anything, we're going backwards now. The movie Idiocracy was definitely a comedy, by all standards, but it addresses a very real problem.

As long as they're being seriously careful with it, then I don't see the problem. Naturally it should be optional. Though it should be highly advisable take measures to prevent things like down syndrome.

Very good point, and if one society chooses to de-evolve itself (Pokemon didn't know it was possible) and you have one head honcho at the top genetically modifying all the babies, that could possibly pose a problem.

If we haven't advanced far enough and we're all dead from the world ending, ...it's looking kind of grim for weeaboo world.

Personally I think that genetic experimentation is not necessarily a bad thing. However as it does bad things will happen, such as: discrimination, wars, and even things like large scale genocide. But if the human race as a whole is to progress at a faster pace then human experimentation is a MUST . The human race would most likely be divided into 3 or 4 factions though, 1 being the people strictly against, possibly 1 being accepting to some degree, the part of humanity that wants to go all the way and the part that wants to do this just for the hentai reasons.

If it can prevent things like mitochondrial disease, yes.

Innovators? I doubt we know enough currently to be successful with out wasting lives, but that is something humans excel at.
