Mobile Suit Gundam series is an important part of anime history, heck, its like a pop culture in Japan.
I hope crunchyroll tries to get some gundam shows and im talking AWESOME shows like the original 0079 or 08th MS Team.
If its even possible, After War Gundam X?
What do you guys think?

Its not a matter of wether or not CR wants to license it,

its a matter of them not being able to get the license to actually stream it.

The actual people who give out the licenses to gundam are fickle sons of bitches who will try to suck your capital dry in exchange for the license. (I'm not too knowledgeable on this stuff, but this is how it was explained to me by a friend who works in licensing, when I asked him why its so hard to get a gundam series streamed)

He could be wrong, but its a known fact that the company who holds the license for gundam is a bit of a bastard in terms of allowing its shows to be streamed.

You can reply to people by pressing quote, not just writing under them.

While 08th MS Team is probably my favorite mecha anime of all time (it's one of the very few anime I actually own a physical copy of), I'm not too surprised to hear that Namco-Bandai or Sunrise or whoever would be in charge of licensing the franchise's streaming are a bunch of moneygrubbers.

Almost nobody can stream Gundam but Bandai when they feel like streaming it on their own. They are big proponents of "buy the dvd/blu-ray or nothing".

Foolish that just gives license to those tempted to the darkside.

Bandai Entertainment had the rights to Gundam in the U.S. ... and, in those days, it was good. The DVDs were reasonably affordable and relatively easy to find (... for the series that they had, since several did not make it here). But Bandai Entertainment collapsed and disappeared in the course of the recession. Daisuki briefly had Gundam, but did not hang on to it. These days, there is always the You Tube Gundam Official channel, but none of the streaming services have the franchise. ... But Right Stuf recently acquired the rights to start releasing the DVDs again, including for series that did not make it the first time, and this is very good. I look forward to giving them my money.

That being said, the answer to the main question boils down to this: The rights to Gundam are expensive, and the fan base is not nearly as big as its vocal proponents would suggest. (I say this as a long-time fan, too.) Bandai bet big on us before ... and lost, so I can understand why they would be skittish nowadays.

This is basically the long and short of it. The cost of the rights has historically been more than anyone would reasonably expect to get in return for the cost. The franchise has had exactly one financial success in the U.S. (Gundam Wing), and that was nearly 20 years ago. Nobody would invest premium licensing fees for something that has a historically low chance of success.

On the other hand, the deal with Right Stuf suggests their licensing fees may have lowered to a more reasonable price, so I suppose there is still a small chance it could happen, but catalog titles on CR probably don't make them a lot of money, so I doubt they'd go too far to acquire them.

CR did have Gundam (and Code Geass) at one time. But, I think the rights holders started demanding to much money, so CR gave up the rights to stream the shows. It is really foolish on the part of Sunrise and Bandai. They are pricing themselves out of the US market and driving people toward piracy.

I'm sure it's not the fact they don't want to license it, but rather the fact that they can't license it without spending an obscene amount of money.
