It's not ignorant and idiotic to make historical references.

Saying it's crude and insensitive would at least make sense.

I saw countless offensive jokes on Pearl Harbour while browsing social media. It's not okay. I'm pretty sure if the score was reversed, you wouldn't see Japanese people making offensive jokes on American accounts.

Racism isn't acceptable. People like Martin Luther King, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Time Wise have been saying that for hundreds of years, but their words still can't get past our thick skulls. It needs to change, and it needs to change soon.

Don't you guys feel ashamed of how those losers are acting?

If it was just a historical reference I think it would be fine but they took it to a certain degree where they considered it revenge for pearl harbor...
I found it ignorant because most of the time people didn't realize why Pearl Harbor was trending, they just decided to bring it up.

Japs is used during the world war as an equivalent to chinks. And no, it's not because twitter has a character limit

If I'm not mistaken USA broke 400 million population not long ago, it'd be silly to get all uppity over a few thousand. Not all of them are racist either, a fair amount are people pointing out how rude those comments are but they still add numbers to the trend. I'm positive that had the situation been reversed Japan would have had it's own share of people with the same bad attitude. And at the end of the day, it's a bunch of strangers you will never meet who left their stupid unzipped on the internet. Who cares?

Hm...So the 129,000+ people killed in the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki wasn't enough?

And to point out, those were the lucky ones. Those attacks are only more widespread due to the fact they were nuclear.

The firebombings, those were truly horrific incidents.....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_raids_on_Japan

Is one of the interesting facts to history of what isn't well said. The horrors in the Russian counter offensive through Germany and the Atrocities they commited is another example.

To sum up, those comments are tasteless. The people who made them need to be put in a warzone and learn how truly fortunate they are to even be able to make said statements.

Might need to change topic title cause I am still trying to find the joke part.

If a joke has something racist in it, it is racist?

I have a feeling this is going to turn into a long pointless debate.
