Dardanos almost lunged when he heard something crash against the floor, however he soon realized it was the lantern and went back to his normal relaxed position. This was proving to be hard. He hadn't realized how hungry he was until a meal presented itself.
Although she could not see him, however the orange glow revealed the small mountain of dirt below her. It looked that it had been loosened enough so that falling on it would not hurt. Unfortunately, before she could actively decide to let go, the remaining stone gave out and left her falling into the hole below.

This time Cira at least let out a small yelp when she fell, a reflection of her bad luck. It ran in the family and it was usually her that caught the worst end of it. When she landed the air was knocked out of her lungs and she wheezed as she rolled down the side of the dirt pile. Her mouth had been open when she gasped for air so when she finally stopped rolling now she had to hack up the dirt that had fallen down her throat. She squinted up, hoping to see her brother standing at the edge with a rope to help her up. Of course, he wasn't there and she was on her own to find her way out. She stood slowly, her knees shaking. Cira finally felt a little bit scared.

Dardanos' eyes widened. He watched her, a light illuminating the wall that she landed next to. He suddenly jerked forwards, letting out a twisted cry that was halfway between a yelp and a laugh. His heart was pounding. He hadn't eaten in almost 900 years. He desperately lunged at her, almost grabbing her before the chains around his wrists pulled him back. His red eyes were wide as he looked at her, his face illuminated barely by the light behind her. His hair was disheveled, dirt and pieces of stone littering it. He growled and tried to reach for her again, desperately swiping his fingers inches from her face in an attempt to grab her.

And now she finally screamed, backing up against the wall as far as she could go almost as if she was trying to flatten herself. Cira held her knife out in front of her although she knew it couldn't do anything. Wild animals she could deal with. Thieves she could deal with. This she could not and for a moment she regretted not listening to Aric or any of the obvious warnings.
"Hey now," she said. Her voice was shaking. She had her doubts that he could even understand her and reasoning with danger was something Aric would do, but she didn't have any options. "It doesn't have to be like this...we can make some sort of deal or exchange or--" she didn't have anything valuable with her except for her knife and the pack she usually traveled with and last time she checked it only had a mat to sleep on, a crossbow that needed repairs, and a apple that she bit and never finished earlier. She had nothing worth exchanging but she'd rather put up some sort of bargain before she died.

Dardanos watched her, smiling as she backed up against the wall. He usually preferred to scare entire villages, but there was something special about stalking an individual victim. He had forgotten how good pleas and bargaining sounded. He chuckled, moving his face closer to her. "And what do you have that would interest me?" His voice boomed in the closed area of the hole, echoing into the castle as well. "I haven't eaten in almost 1000 years." He said. "Do you know where I could find food?" He smiled at her, his eyes taunting her. "That other one travelling with you..." He lowered his voice. "It would be unfortunate if he fell down here. If he fell closer to me. Have you ever wondered how he would taste?" He looked up at the stairwell. If she wouldn't come closer, then perhaps he would come to find her and fall closer than she did. He wondered if she would give her life to save him? Perhaps he would sell her out to save himself. He loved drama.

"Aric? No Aric wouldn't taste very good...and neither would I." Cira glanced up as well. She knew how her brother worked. How much longer did she have until he mustered up the courage and came looking for her? He would have to work himself up to it, he'd be angry at first and then worried and then...
Cira shook her head. "But I...of course I know where you could find food." They were in a forest and Cira was the best (and only) huntress she knew. "If-If you could just let me go b-but I promise to come back." She didn't like stuttering and she wasn't sure if she even sounded convincing and she knew very well in these situations people were hardly allowed to leave for even just a moment. But it was the only skill she had and the only thing she could offer except for what was in her pack which she highly doubted he wanted. "I could hunt for you," she continued. "It won't take long. I promise."
She slipped her pack off so that she could back further against the wall. The more space she could manage between them the better she felt.

"Aric." He repeated. "That's a nice name." He smiled. He would have normally turned down her offer and just devoured her immediately, but dead food was better than no food. At the same time, he wasn't sure that she would come back at all. "Unfortunately I prefer my food alive. And I don't quite trust that you'll return to me." Although he turned her down, he was still considering her offer.
He tilted his head. "Speaking of live things... If you stay down here you'll starve to death, don't you think?" He looked at her pack. "Surely you can't live off of whatever food you may have for long. Wouldn't you rather feed me?" He leaned in closer, his head now laying on the ground. "You wouldn't want to waste."

"Uh..." Cira wasn't sure what to say. The first thought in her head was no, she wanted to avoid being eaten if she could but the thought of starving to death wasn't so pleasant either. She'd be dubbed Cira the Fool who fell into a whole and starved herself because she pushed her nose into things when she should have been minding her own business. "...I don't taste good," was all she could think of to say. "I can get you something tastier." All she could do was continue to bargain. At the very least if he let her go she could tell Aric to return home. Cira often left home for days at time, they would find nothing unusual about her actions if she didn't return.
"I'll come back. I'll even leave my pack here or--I just...please don't eat me. I mean, c'mon you seem like a nice guy." She was rambling now. Cira always had a hard time taking things seriously. She looked down at her boots. "Don't eat me," she repeated rather meekly.

Dardanos smiled. "We won't know until we try..." There was something about her that was quite intriguing to him. "I'm not even sure if I can reach to get you out. These chains only reach so far." He gestured to the chains around his wrists. If anything, he could just say that he could get her out in order to get her to step closer and eat her then. Would her companion come then and perhaps bring others directly to him? He bit his lip. He would rather have constant food than have good food, he supposed. "If I do let you out, I want to have some terms." He assumed that if she wasn't honest his "terms" wouldn't really matter, but this was all going on that she was honest anyways. "I want to see your companion." He said. Although he was getting food he still longed for drama. "Is he more frightened than you are of things?" He would love to scare them both. He extended his hand for her to climb onto. "Deal?" He figured if he couldn't get her out of the hole he could just eat her. Perhaps if he tossed her from his hand she could reach the stairs again.

Cira looked at him, really trying to study him. She was nervous about believing him. It was obvious now that she needed his help to get out but she was still concerned that leaving her safe corner would cause her to be eaten. She balled her hands into fists, digging her nails into the skin. She was telling herself that if he let her go than she'd survive long enough to give him what he wanted and that be just fine and dandy and if he was just tricking her well, she was so small that it wasn't like he would chew her right? So it wouldn't hurt and she'd probably suffocate in his throat or something. That wouldn't be the worst way to go.
"I--" she took a timid step closer. "Aric? Oh no he'd faint. I'm the brave one...I don't think he could handle this." Then again, she wasn't handling this quite well either. She was still shaking. "But, we have a deal," she added quickly.

Dardanos chuckled. "Good." He let her crawl into his hand, before pulling her up close to his face. "Push him down here." He looked up at the stairwell above. "It doesn't have to be obvious. Tell him you found something. It can seem like an accident. I'll catch him." He smiled. "You can leave him here. That way i'll know you'll come back." He studied her expression, before grabbing her more harshly and holding her over his mouth. "Or else, I can just have my meal here..." He was excited to see her companion if he was more scared than her. If he ate him, perhaps she would break down upon her return. He could turn his breathing on and off, so perhaps he could turn his digestive system on and off as well. He wouldn't kill him, he just wanted to see the both of them react.

She panicked, feeling the blood drain from her face. Cira nodded. "Yes, I'll bring him alright? Just don't...don't..." Again she was at a loss for words. Cira was in no position to be making any commands and being demanding wouldn't help her case. Still, this was Aric they were talking about. She was the one who dragged him here and the last thing she wanted was to push him down here. If they survived, she'd never hear the end of it. Perhaps he'd never forgive her. Also, leaving him here defeated the purpose of her getting the chance to leave. She wouldn't leave him behind and she felt uncomfortably leaving him here alone.

"Won't you trust me?" He smirked. On the inside, he was quite worried. He hadn't been around people for almost 900 years, and it was driving him insane. Usually he would zone out for years at a time, only interrupted by when he would try to break free of his chains to no avail. If she left he would be back alone, possibly forever. How long had it been? Eventually the castle above him would collapse, and then he would be stuck there forever. He stood up, lifting his arm up and grabbing her by the back of her collar. He could try to throw her up to the staircase, but she would have to grab onto it. If she didn't make it, he could always catch her in his mouth.
Sighing, he flung her up to the staircase, somehow managing to get her to land on it without her having to pull herself up. Immediately when she was out of sight he felt a wave of dread, similar to the one that he had felt when he first woke up and found himself trapped here. He supposed there was nothing he could do now except wait for her companion to come falling down, or for her to return with food.

Cira glanced back for a moment before racing up the stairs to where Aric was waiting. Her heart was beating so loudly she could hear it echoing off the walls. She practically hurled into him. Aric fell back onto the stairs. He screamed until he noticed it was her and then sighed in relief.
"What took you so long?" He was yelling. "You had me worried sick--"
She slammed her hand over his mouth and shushed him. "Aric, you have to do me a favor."
He raised his eyebrow at her.
"I...just promise me you'll be safe."
Her hand was still over his mouth so he just eyed her suspiciously. She usually wasn't the one making people promise their safety.
"Just...go down the stairs. Wait for me there, alright? I'll be back as soon as I can."
Aric's eyesight was worse than hers. He wouldn't see where the stairs stopped and his ears were perhaps only good for their points. He was more human than elf and he was more coward than anything. But she had to trust for the moment that he'd be alright in the time it took her to hunt. Hunting at night wasn't easy, but Cira had to be quick.
"Will you do this for me?" She wanted him to continue on alone. She couldn't stand pushing him down there herself. She didn't think she'd be able to bare the look on his face.
Aric nodded slowly. He could see how frantic and panicked she was. Cira removed her hand."I...if this is what you want." He sounded confused but he'd do it if she really wanted him to.

Dardanos waited before he heard the sound of crumbling rocks. He smiled and waited to see where the rocks would give out. This time, they gave out closer to him, near the end of the stairwell, leaving Aric falling towards the ground quite close to him. Before he hit the ground, Dardanos's hand shot out and caught him. He chuckled, moving to pick him up by the back of his neck before he held him in front of his face. He was grinning wide, showing off his sharp teeth. They were mainly white, but still had stains of blood from centuries ago near the edges of them. "You must be Aric." He tossed him from hand to hand, licking his lips.
