"No." Cira shook her head frantically. "I'm fine." She tried to stand but her knees knocking together and her legs wobbled. Cira ended up just landing pathetically back down on her knees. She tried to stand two more times before giving up. Cira didn't know what was wrong with her, she'd never felt quite like this before. "I'm...I'm peachy." She wasn't sure who she was talking to anymore. "But...y'know laying down doesn't sound so bad..."
Cira yawned loudly, her eyes were threatening to close but she fought to keep them open. She leaned against his hand to keep from falling back and smacking against the floor.

Dardanos tilted his hand back to that she was in more of a laying position than a kneeling position. "Good." He lifted her up, leaning back up against the wall with her in his hand. "Are you tired?" He asked, watching her. "You can sleep if you want." He purred. Perhaps if she remembered him as being kind to her she would try to let him out earlier... He moved to lay back, setting her on his chest. "I'll wake you when your brother returns..."

"I'm...not...tired..." But as she spoke she drifted off into sleep. Her eyes had already closed despite her protest and soon after she began to snore. She couldn't even register that she'd been moved and so she didn't think of complaining. She was fast asleep and dreaming before she realized it.

Aric was already halfway home. They lived rather high up in the mountains for their own good. They needed their privacy more than anyone else. He stomped through the woods, fists at his sides, and mumbling to himself. It wasn't night anymore, enough time had passed in that castle that the sun was rising and Aric had to walk in his shame with the sunlight on his back. He felt violated and filthy and upset with Cira especially for dragging him into this and requiring that he leave her behind. He figured he could hold off having a serious conversation for the time being, but if Cira didn't return within the next few days there'd be trouble.
He tiptoed into the small cabin that they called home, not wanting to wake their mother who slept slouched at the small kitchen table before the fire. He sneaked past her, to a chest in the other room where Cira kept her belongings. Aric wasn't sure what to bring or what she would want so he dragged it out the entire chest and loaded it up in his cart out back and with a sigh prepared to trek back up the mountain.
"What a fool," he said to himself. He only wished he'd knocked some sense into her before this happened.

Dardanos watched her fall asleep. He poked her in the side once to make sure she was asleep, before sitting up slightly. He wondered when Aric would return... Perhaps if Cira was asleep too he would come down here himself. He wasn't really sure how they would get all this stuff down here without jumping down or having some of it break. He would enjoy seeing Aric high as well but doubted he would volunteer to come down here again or have anything to do with Dar at all.

Aric approached the castle with a feeling of dread. He had to pace around outside before he worked himself into entering. "It won't take long," he convinced himself. He rolled the cart in before him as if it could protect him in the case that something jumped out to attack him. Nothing did. Danger wasn't a very big problem at the moment. The problem was carefully lowering Cira's belongings into the tunnel. Aric considered jumping down with it his arms but he got the sense that he'd only end up hurting himself. He let the chest fall and he flinched when he swore he heard something break inside. Whatever. Cira couldn't possibly care about the state of her belongings all that much at this point.
It was still fairly dark so Aric took extra care as he started down the spiral staircase. "Cira!" he called out her name as he continued on. He just wanted to get this over with.

Dardanos sat up more, allowing her to slide further down his chest. He heard the bang and looked up to the staircase. "Aric?" He called. Perhaps he wouldn't come down here if he didn't see his sister. He growled. He wasn't sure quite how long it would take for her to wake up. With the sound of the bang though, he estimated that he would need to help Aric get it down.

Cira stirred in her sleep as she slid but she was usually a heavy sleeper. It wasn't enough to rouse her.
Aric called out her name once more as he came close to where he suspected the drop was. He didn't want to get too close. He set the chest down in front of him. It seemed to get heavier as he carried it and his arms truly weren't that strong. "Cira? I have your things!"
Aric hugged himself and stood uncomfortably on the staircase. Why wasn't she answering? He began to worry, perhaps leaving her had not been wise and certainly he'd left her alone longer than she had.
"Goodness," he said. "Cira I know you're there!" Well, at the very least he hoped.

Dardanos poked Cira with his finger, before turning to the staircase again. He picked Cira up and put her on the ground beside him, before standing up to get as close to the drop as he could. "You may drop them..." He said. He wasn't quite sure if he could hear him. He poked Cira with his foot.

Aric picked up the chest although his arms were straining painfully and held it up in front of him. He took careful steps closer. The last thing he wanted was to fall himself. "I'll drop it," he said. He tried to speak loudly and perhaps even bravely but it simply wasn't in his character. "I just want to see her first."
Sure, he knew that if harm had come to Cira then Dardanos would have no need for Cira's belongings, but he still wanted to make sure she was alright. Cowardly as he was, he was still her brother.

Dardanos picked her up, however he couldn't really get him to see her without tossing her up there, in which case if she didn't wake up he wasn't entirely sure that Aric wouldn't just take her and run. "You'll have to come down." He couldn't help making his voice a bit sinister. He still enjoyed scaring Aric, and he smiled as he waited for his response, holding his hand out below the hole. "I'll catch you." He paused. "Unless you want to leave your sister here without any means of living..."

Aric gulped. There was only so much he could handle. Right now it felt as if they were weights on his shoulders. As the man of the house he felt he had a duty to take proper care of Cira, but as himself it would take more than he could imagine to get him to go down there again. Besides, Aric didn't like his tone. He was being toyed with and he'd be made a fool out of it. He held out the chest instead, preparing to drop it.
"I...I will return. And I'm warning you, you beast--" Aric cut himself out. What kind of warning could he give? Even if Aric wasn't cowardly or weak he couldn't imagine himself intimidating the likes of Dardanos.

Dardanos laughed, the noise booming through the castle. "Do you think you can scare me?" He grabbed the chest. "I will return to you next time. To your village. When I am free." He smiled and put the chest down. He was amused by Aric's threat, if it could be called that. "Your sister is fine. Go."

Aric flinched at the sound of his laughter. No, he didn't think that he was the least bit scary. Aric was well aware that he failed in that aspect. And he certainly didn't like the sound of Dardanos' threat. The thought of him being set free would feed his nightmares for some time. He hoped it would never come to that and he hoped Cira would get out of here before it came to that. She had to know that he wasn't safe.
Aric didn't need to be told twice, he fled. There was nothing else he could do. He'd be back when things with their mother was settled and when he felt brave enough to return.
Cira groaned and stretched, feeling uncomfortable and like she'd been moved around too much. Her stomach had flipped and flopped all over the place. Her eyelids fluttered and she mumbled something in her sleep that no one could really understand.

Dardanos turned his attention to Cira again. He figured she would want to be woken up, as he told her he would wake her up when her brother arrived. Moving her around didn't seem to be working, so he decided to try a different strategy. He shrunk down to human size and kneeled beside her, putting his hand on her shoulder. He leaned in close to her and shook her gently. "Cira." He said, bored with her inactivity. He shook her again, before moving her face to look at him with his hand.

Cira continued to stir. She stretched her arms and yawned, eyes still closed as she began to wake up. In her sleep she'd convinced herself that she was back at home. Although she rarely slept in the cabin there were few mornings when she woke up to the smell of breakfast and the warmth from the fire place and not the dirt and chill and of forest. She reached up above her, expecting to swat her mother away like she did on those mornings when her mom shook her awake. "Ma, you'll never believe--"
Her eyes fluttered open and she looked up to see Dardanos. "Oh," was all she could say.
