Just watched it lots of facts and lots of coincidences. This would explain the hiatus

I havn't read Tokyo Ghoul yet, but based on the little I know and the video it does seem strikingly similar.

Togashi always has though provoking manga, and he really transcended that in the chimera ant arc so if Tokyo Ghoul is like that that could be one similarity.

Another would be bugs. Togashi is fascinated with them, he had swarms of evil bugs in yu yu hakusho, and he had a whole arc in HxH about chimera ants, and from what I heard Tokyo Ghoul has a centipede....

Then finally (excluding oda) I find Togashi being a master of long term planning/foreshadowing so the stuff mentioned in the video could really match up.

And if they really are the same, then good for him!

Lol.. no. Firstly the art style's are way to different, (Togashi gets reaaaaallly lazy during art intensive scenes)

Secondly, Togashi is playing dragon quest, just like he always does which causes these long ass breaks.

The same as Kentaro miura (berserk) and freaking idol master.

I highly doubt they are the same person. Why would Togashi drop his biggest manga and tell his fans to go fuck themselves, to go and do another manga?

Not saying there isn't any validity to this theory, but it is highly unlikely.

@Azazelof....
In the video it states that Tokyo Ghoul is drawn on a tablet whereas Togashi usually handraws everything. Also if you read the last 9 chapters You'd know that he stepped up his game a lot on art, it wasn't lazy it was crazy detailed.

Togashi playing dragon quest is mostly just a joke among the anime/manga community based off a picture I believe of him playing video games in a room that looks like (W)Dwune's place at the end of greed island. Also, the "reason" for his being absent as of late is a back injury, but if these two are the same people it would explain a lot.

And I'm assuming you didn't watch the video since this second point you made (drop his biggest manga) was explained in the video as well as part of the theory, although I don't want to type it out and it feels like this is becoming a rant so I'll just stop.

This theory blew my mind! It might actually be true, the 1000-7 thing is just too freaky! Not to mention how the Tokyo Ghoul manga, the Hunter X Hunter 2011 anime and the Tokyo Ghoul Anime, line up like that.

Really, the art style aspect can be taken either way. If you've ever read Bakuman and noticed how Obata can change his art style to match each character's work, you'd know that many artists with a high level of skill can change their art style or at least mimic the art of others. On the other hand, I highly doubt that switching from manual to a tablet could change a good art style to a different, but still also good style.

Also, a more plausible reason for hiatus is the fact that Togashi has been reported to have back problems for some time now.

Mathematic symbolism in fan theories are a dime a dozen and rarely amount to anything.

Really, I'm seeing an awful lot of confirmation bias, and the whole theory is hurt by Occam's Razor because it relies on a number of assumptions regarding the thought process of mangaka about upcoming anime.

I agree regarding the art style as well. Ishida himself tweeted that he studied under Togashi so it shouldn't be hard for him to convincingly mimic Togashi's art style so it does not seem to be a valid point at all.

In my last post I said I didn't read Tokyo Ghoul. I bought volume 1 and after reading a bit of it it's pretty damn obvious that Ishida is NOT Togashi. While the details and coincidences do seem fishy and make sense in the fact that it's speculation, but not only does Tokyo Ghoul have a different style of storytelling than Togashi usually does, but also between his family, his health, and the immense storytelling he has to bring to the Dark Continent arc that I just don't see him having any time to write another series. And as an after thought even the art style is different, Togashi can put a lot of emotion in his panels and characters, while Tokyo Ghoul so far (just based off volume 1) it seems that Ishida looks to be going the torture inside/psychological subtle way.
