Too nice of him, but I agree that nice actions against bad actions get more publicity. I think he cared more to let the world know about this syndrome than punishing the bullies which is good but if that was me I would do everything to see those bullies behind bars.

On another note, while I was reading the article I asked myself "wtf is Asperger's syndrome?"

So I googled it....

^lmao I think I have Asperger's syndrome since that's technically me XD

You will want to check if you have a monotone too. That comes with Asperger's. Also if you piss people off with either how blunt you are, or the fact you cant tell your pissing them off. That is another good clue. Finally people with Asperger's often have clinical/major depressive disorder. This stems from the lack of social interaction while you really want it. Other than that the list is pretty good.

Also, if you want to check, go to a therapist. They will be able to test you and see if you have it. I was found out pretty late in life, about 6 years ago in later high school. They thought I was ADD, ADHD, OCD, Bipolar and finally a ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder, the new and correct name for Asperger's). If you do think you have it, go check! They can offer a lot to help someone like me!

I feel for this guy. I was diagnosed with Asperger's by a doctor at a young age, and I attended special social skills classes throughout elementary, middle, and high schools. Due to those classes, many of the friends that I made also had various forms of autism. They a pretty diverse group; some of them were basically normal while others were antisocial, violent, jerks. One of these friends in particular was the target of some pretty severe bullying in middle and high schools, so much so that he had to transfer to a school meant for people with Aspergers.

His decision was admirable but punishment is still necessary for these kinds of people.

Sounds iffy to me. Need the full story.

'If you are reading this, I hope you talk to your teens, tell them about disabilities you can't see, teach them to be tolerant of people that are different, teach them that if they continuously see someone alone that maybe it is not their choice to be alone, remind them to ask questions first and get to know one another.'

^ lol at the person who said that, type of person that runs to mommy for help.

The publicity this story has gotten does more good than just putting the kids in jail regardless of their reactions to the video. Good for him for being the bigger person.

Maybe I reading this wrong but are you being an ass ?

This line is annoying. Are you saying is wrong to teach kids to be tolerant and try to be friend with different people ? And how does that lead somebody to run to their mom ? And why is that even something to be ashamed of ? If you need help you get it from wherever you can get it.

To be honest I don't know anything about Asperger's other than Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory has it but I do know that bullying someone for having a problem is terrible.

Even if he didn't want to press charges, they should be punished as they broke the law.

Asperger's is basically High Functioning Autism that doesn't have the language acquisition delay that most autism comes with, in fact it's so similar to high functioning autism, that they removed the Diagnosis from the next iteration of the DSM (DSM V I believe). Now anyone who would be Diagnosed with it will instead be labelled something like: High Functioning Autistic. Asperger's is basically Autism, and was come up with by Hans Asperger near the same Time that an American came up with Autism.

This TED talk does a good job of explaining Autism
http://www.ted.com/talks/temple_grandin_the_world_needs_all_kinds_of_minds?language=en

And this TED talk basically points out the lack of difference between Autism and Asperger's, though it isn't the Talk's original intent

As a person with Asperger's, I'd like to think I'd do that. Can't be sure, since I've never been in that position, but...

For anyone who doesn't have Asperger's - know that it sucks. I don't know how it is for everyone, but for me, it sucks.

I've been called creepy for just sitting there, minding my own business.

A guy I thought was my best friend went around telling people I had "ass burgers".

My own mother is constantly getting angry at me for "looking angry", when I don't think I do. Sometimes I try to say something nice, and she yells at me, says I'm being sarcastic, when I'm trying to be sincere.

...I don't know. I'm just venting. I feel for this kid, y'know?

Even if you look angry that not reason to yell a somebody. Have you tell her about what you have ?

I been told I could have it but they want to tested me to confirm it. But apparently where I live the test is a lot of money.
Apparently I am too blunt with people that piss me off, even family and the lack of me not giving a fuck seen to make them think I have that.

When people yell a me or raise their voice a me. I tell them to bring their voice down right now. I know she your mom but she yelling a you is unhealthy for you. She clearly giving you stress. You have to talk to her and tell her to calm the fuck down. Or you need to find a way to vent that frustration or is going to make your life stressful.

Oh, she definitely knows I have Asperger's. She's the one who made me get tested for it.

As for telling her to calm down, well, that's not going to work. I've tried.

My father has Asperger's too, and she's yelled at him every weekend for as far back as my sister and I can remember, recalling everything he's ever done (or potentially may have done) wrong. She hates his entire family. When someone does something bad she says "What a (my-last-name) thing to do!"

One time she was driving me home from school, and a car passed by us.
She said "I bet that's my sister going to cheat with your father."
Now her sister lives 3 hours away from us, and is married with kids.
So I say, "Well you just ruined a perfectly good afternoon."
She yells "Well, you would have ruined it anyway!"

I know I was being kinda snarky, but...

.....I don't know. I'm sorry. This was WAY too much dump on a stranger on the internet.

But, yeah, I'm way passed stressed.

Not to come to the bullies' defense, but I can usually tell (in the more extreme cases) when a poster has Asperger's and they can be annoying and weird.
(If you've ever had a forum poster who drives the other members crazy constantly trying to steer the subject back to the one subject he wants to talk about that no one else does--and thinks it'll be okay if he just keeps at it, since there are only one or two vocal "meanies" upset with him for reasons he can't figure out--that's a good sign. Unexplainable formatting or spelling is another.)
Starting to wonder about myself a bit, too, since I was your classic Weird Kid in elementary school, and nowadays, one out of every four or five of my posts keep getting responses of "Huh? Wanna translate that one for us? ", although I take it in more of a guru sense. Speaking Your Own Language, literally or figuratively, is another tip-off symptom.

Because the A/A has impaired social skills, he has less ability to see whether or not he's acting in socially approved ways.
And while not giving his bullies jail time would be admirable in a normal person, the idea that we'll all be on his side for being "martyred", as much as he thinks of himself as one, is another symptom of the disease, as it is with the picked-on annoying posters.

Never really thought of the 'martyr' thing. It is pretty true... and I have done it myself when I think of it. I got attacked once and didn't press charges. His name was Angel for a little bit of irony! Probably should have done it. Autism is a truly interesting subject and I look forward to where the study goes in the future.

Probably we will never know, since they are teens. not grow people that can retract from their actions.
