EF~A Tale of Memories

Plot Summary: The anime revolves around two protagonists, Hirono Hiro and Asou Renji. On Christmas Eve, Hirono Hiro meets a girl named Miyamura Miyako who was chasing a purse snatcher. Hiro later finds out that Miyako also goes to the same school as he does and they start hanging out together. This made Hiro's childhood friend, Shindou Kei, feel left out. Kei then tries to compete with Miyako for Hiro's affection and a love triangle ensues. The anime also tells the story of Asou Renji. Renji meets a girl named Shindou Chihiro at an abandoned train station. He soon learns that Chihiro suffers from a type of amnesia where her memory span only lasts for 13 hours. He also discovers Chihiro's dream of writing a novel, but she has never been able to fulfill that dream due to her condition. Renji then decides to help her fulfill that dream.

One of my favourite anime of all times. The plot itself is awesome!! A total work of genius. It might not sound that convincing, but seriously, check this anime out or you'll really regret it ^^ The first episode was really outstanding and the later episodes didn't disappoint as well. It's not the type of comedy anime but there were touches of humor now and then.I like the concept of the story though. It's a short 13 episodes but the story was nicely laid out and there were no fillers and it wasn't rushed either. The animation was pleasing and the opening song plus the insert songs serve to set the mood. It's a really meaningful anime,it somehow reminds me of Kanon 2006,AIR and other anime(s) along that line.I was surprised by the ending though.I thought that it would end tragically but it proved me wrong.I was really touched by the ending of it.It's ironic. One of the best parts was the opening animation of the last episode though.I love the way they changed the lyrics of the song and some of the scenes in it.The part where the girls broke free of their chains was fantastic xD

SHAFT did a pretty good job with Ef.Out of the 3 stories, the most boring is probably the chihiro story, while others are great. The animation is fantastic, some scenes are really beautiful. Not the best romance anime out there, but it's worth your time and it's only 13 episodes

Ef is breathtakingly epic. That's pretty much all that i can say.The initial concept is really beautiful and so is some of the lines.^^I disagree with romeoxjuliet though.I happen to think the the RenjiXChihiro arc is the best part of all. But,that depends on how each person thinks so i suppose everyone has their own views on EF.

You know... I really was hopeing to be able to hit this topic up and say almost the exact same thing. But you beat me to it and couldn't have said it better. As such... I agree... 100%. And I really like the ending. Very much so.

Nuff said.

This anime has got to be one of the best there is. the way the creators designed the episodes was so unique and the story line was breath taking. This anime keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you wanting more. Also i loved the opeing of the anime. it was so fitting and showed an over view of the whole series. I also liked how in the opening they showed the story Chihori writes with Renji. Both stories that are told in this anime are so good. the anime was kept at a nice rate and nothing seemed to be rushed. This is unusal because it is only 13 episodes long. In my opinion the story with chihori and Renji was the best. This anime is a must see.

I found this anime to be quite enjoyable. I loved the artwork, especially the scenes where things were inversed, I thought it was unique and well done. I also liked the animation, it seemed very real; I don't recall exactly what scene it was or who was moving but I remember everything was red except for the twisting figure which was a darker color (I believe it was Renji), anyways this scene I thought was especially well done. The story is good as well; I liked the Chihiro and Renji storyline the most. I was glad there was a happy ending as well.

All in all it was a great anime, and I would recommend watching it. Also on a side note this anime was the closest thing to making cold-hearted, stoic me get teary-eyed since about 8 years ago when Ash was trying to make Pikachu happy by forcing him to live with the other Pikachus. (I didn't get teary-eyed, but I was probably pretty close... *manly gruff sound*)

I can say that this is one of the best animes out there. The story is good, and although it is just as dramatic as the usual dramas, the way it is presented and the way the story is told is outstanding. At first I didn't really get what the whole story is about and it's hard to guess but you will fall in love with it as the story unfolds. And just as like what they have said, nothing was rushed and it ain't too slow either.
The first thing that captured me is it's animation, it's not the average kind of anime. It is very artistic and it's cinematography is breathtaking. It is not just watching drawings move but rather it's like watching paintings move (and not just any painting but the masterpiece kind). It's take on it's cinematography and animation is fresh and unique, it's like an experimental kind of film.
And it's very cinematic...the animation, the music, and the drama of the story.
Highly recommended!!

couldnt have said better myself. the many different styles of animation are pulled off really well. not to mention the musical score is amazing.
