Though I do think there is a trend on females enjoying colorful, vibrant and aesthetically pleasing games. Not that they won't or can't enjoy otherwise.

Oh and both love Diablo II, AoE II (We grew up on these) and now Torchlight.

Agree.

What's wrong with temple run

It's free arcade style mobile game. It's like if someone said their favorite game is snake.

Its still a game.
Why would the console & genre matter?

It was also games like those that made video games get to where they are today.
like Galaga and Pong.

I'm not too bothered about the sex of the protagonist in games. As long as it's a solid game that I can spend hours of my life on, then i'm in. What I look for specifically depends on the genre, as it would for any gamer.

So you are more of a WoW girl? :P
Well agian that shows there is quite the crowd of females in RPG's mostly either be skyrim, fallout, WoW, RS etc, and less in FPS and so on.

I don't play WoW. I like games like League of Legends, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy and such. I don't play FPS (not true fps anyway, I do play fallout and bioshock) because I find them incredibly boring with very little substance.

I hear a lot in the media about how gaming ignores or hates women, but it sounds like most women gamers kind of want more of what male gamers want - good games with good stories.

If I were to choose something females were more inclined to want in a game, that'd be more character development, and sensual moments between characters to make it more thrilling.

This thread is kinda sexist - this coming from a guy.
I don't mean the "we deserve more rights than men" kind of sexist, i mean actual sexist...

Not sure why you think women like different things than men but im afraid to tell you just like us - they have likes and dislikes...

You are better off asking everyone what the best food is.

No actually, men and women like different things trend wise. That's why polls show as they do. We're different and that's okay. Calm down.

I'm not angry but regardless of gender gaming is gaming, sure women are less likely to like certain games where guys are more likely...
However to say women like a specific genre, or specific thing more than men is silly!
I am perfectly calm i am just trying to get a point across that games are games, regardless of gender they are here to be enjoyed - Unless it's something like "horse riding simulator" or "make-up application simulator" where naturally less men (not no men!) will want to b part.

I am calm, i just want OP to realize that women aren't a different species - they just have a breasts etc.
Even if it's shown on this forum women prefer RPG's that's because women on this forum were asked, you ask women somewhere else and the answer may differ

I really don't want to come across as angry or anything but i don't like it when people treat others differently, women will be the exact same as men - some will like RPG's, some FPS's. Some MMo's, Some racing games, Some indie games etc.

Diversity should be encouraged in our society, yet for some reason it's not taught at all.

Women can enjoy the same games guys do, that's a given. There are just trends where more women in quantitative terms enjoy. Trends are just that--trends. They don't apply to everyone. As long as that is recognized as such, there isn't an issue. So no, this topic isn't sexist at all. Figuring out what most women tend to look for in a game isn't sexist. People get too panicky these days about it, but I can't really blame them entirely.

Most women like games like Just Dance, Sims, and Nintendo games. That's okay. No need to seizure over sexism discussing what types of games women prefer, in general, or what they tend to look for. This doesn't apply to every woman, I'm a core gamer myself, but it doesn't mean i don't recognize most women aren't into the types of games I play. That can change over the years, as it has been lately, certainly.

He hasn't said 'all women like Sims games and none like Sports games'. Mkay, no sexism here chilleo.
