Tbh, I just started watching anime for about 3 months now and I've only seen a couple animes with romance in them, but if i had to pick one, it would probably be "Plastic Memories"

You can pick any number of scenes from Saikano, but

is the one that hurts me to watch every time.

I think for me it was the end of the debut episode of School-live I watched yesterday. I've had a lot of sad anime moments throughout the years involving deaths, breakups, sacrifices, etc but none met up with the feeling I had by the end of this episode. It felt like someone ripped the heart from my chest.

Shigatsu wa Kimi no uso (Love's Sorrow episode, when Kawori has a shock at the hospital right after Kousei realizes that he loves her, final episode's scenes while Kousei interprets Chopin's 1st Ballade and while reading Kawori's letter) A lot of scenes aside those, to be honest.

Personally it just made my blood go frozen cold instead of making me sad. I can see why it would be sad though.

The ending of Angel Beats is the saddest moment in anime for me though.
