I'm sure it can do things that other jets can't. I mean, what would be the point of wasting so much on something inferior to old jets. I feel like there's something they aren't telling us.

Eh not even a credible news source and very few people in this thread who seems to understand how government spending works. Even some idiot saying abandon the space program, space exploration and colony establishment is something the world should have as top priority. As former military and someone who has worked in some of the bigger command installations in the US, defense spending is not useless at all, and developing state of the line stuff is extremely expensive. We are constantly under cyber warfare and a real war is not unimaginable. Daydreaming about drones killing each other is retarded people will always die in conflict, robots killing each other only hurts a budget, doesnt stop a threat.

I'm having a hard time believing this new Jet is so bad and that the gov't and the military aren't pulling the plug on production and sinking all this money into this line of jets. I mean, it just makes no sense. It is like the military wants to waste money and have inferior vehicles.

It just makes no sense. I doubt what was reported in the OP until I hear such things from credible, reputable sources.

This is a wikipedia article on the site, medium.com.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medium_%28service%29

Of note is this from the wikipedia entry:

The platform has evolved into a hybrid of non-professional contributions and professional, paid contributions, an example of social journalism.

Yeah, we should wait and see if this gets reported from credible and reputable sources of information.

I felt the same way when I read this. It doesn't make sense. Especially with that much amount of money, they're gonna make sure there's a good reason to spend that much on them.

Yeah, agreed. Also, when you made your post, you might have missed my second post in this thread (below the post you quoted), which sheds more light on things.

Yes because a website with "war is boring" written at the top knows the specifications of a brand new fighter jet. Do you really think the military is just gonna hand out information on a trillion dollar piece of equipment? While I don't defend the creation of the F-35 seeing as even the F-22 hasn't even hardly seen any action, I doubt any information coming from a website like the one provided is even close to reliable. Besides they are brand new, of course they're gonna lose a dogfight against a pilot that's been piloting an F-16 for a long time. It doesn't matter how good the gun if you don't know how to use it.

Here is a wikipedia article on the author of the blog:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Axe

Looks like his is a well renowned journalist.

Here is a wikipedia article on the F-35.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_F-35_Lightning_II

I skimmed it but yeah, it looks like there are a lot of concerns over its performance and capabilities.

Seriously, wtf? How can our military stand by this and sink all that money into it rather than scrap it and stick with our current, better vehicles while contracting someone to make a better product than the F-35? This is lunacy. This shouldn't be happening.

Useless. Build some drones. And get rid of the space project. We have bigger issues we need to focus on that are taking place on the ground right under our own noses.

Space, and the technologies designed to operate in it, have always been applied to earth based problems.

All I know is that this is a drain on national resources, and isn't really necessary, or affordable in the current economic environment. I swear, the entire government needs a spending overhaul. All levels. Especially the military.
