Obviously people have different tastes. And liking an anime is subjective. But can you think of an anime that does have an overwhelming amount of haters that deserve the hate it gets? Off the top of your head, what is it and why?

My pick would be One Piece.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I love One Piece to death and if I see anyone trying to trashtalk it I would cut them, but the anime makes it too damn difficult to defend.

Basically, the manga is a masterpiece. The anime is not. For an anime that keeps the viewers up consistently every week, you would think the budget for the animation would at least be decent. Not that I know any of this stuff, and it's probably just the animators being lazy. But still.

I can see why people and haters would be turned off. Plus the number of episodes scare a lot of people. Though that is an issue I surprisingly don't have a problem with.

You go!

I guess I'd have to agree with One Piece. They seriously need to take a break for a year or two for it to be good again. That or once Dressrosa is done, go on one of the longest filler arcs ever, while making it decent like the arc at the marine base after Skypeia.

This thread could open up all kinds of worms and trolls.

But I am going to wager a guess that the easiest answer is probably Boku.

Akame ga Kill, Attack on titan, Irregular at Magical highschool.
A couple to list, but a lot of the popular stuff doesnt seem anime enough or they stray too far from good potential.
My other complain is the whole "kill of characters for suspense, then bring them back" thing to keep you watching. Its pretty poop way to keep people watching, and it seems to only work on people who dont watch anime often.
I notice someone said SAO, But I give SAO props for atleast coming across as anime and not being that stupid, apart from its terrible pacing and some-what cheesiness. I can let the crowd slide, and its still enjoyable for what it is.

Brynhildr in the Darkness deserves the hate it gets for trying to cram over 50 manga chapters into 3 episodes

Magical Warfare gets the hate it deserves because it was done by normally awesome Madhouse, and it was still a horrid trainwreck.

That was my thought, too. Have not seen CM here for ages.

As for the topic ... hmm. Do I want to be the guy who puts in Sword Art Online or not?

I concur.

Heck, even the original light novel author disowned the anime...

For me it would be

1. Fairy Tail : I can't say I really like most of the characters. They are pretty one dimensional. Which wasn't the case with Groove Adventure Rave characters. Fairy Tail to me really feels like Mashima trying to eat off the popularity of One Piece by making a manga that amplifies the superficial aspects of One Piece.

2. Sword Art Online : This had lazy writing. What do teenage boys like? Video Games, Girls, Pwning. Check. We need some threat, what will piss off guys the most? Threat of rape to their GF. Check. Okay we have got ourselves a best seller.

3. Isuca : The manga was a romcom/drama, they tried to make the anime into a bloody action show.

There really isn't anything else off the top of my mind that I really hate that gets all that much negative attention. Or rather I can see the ingenuity behind pretty much everything else. I may not like it, but I can still feel the love.

I mean, I may not like Diabolic Lovers, but I can respect that it was written with masochistic women in mind. From the mindset of a masochistic woman it may be enjoyable, also the character designs are pretty.

I love Hagure Yuusha on the other hand because the action and comedy were written very well. There are a lot of people who hate it though because of how sexist it can be. On the other hand we have the author's next work, Testament of Devil Sister, I have a bit of trouble forgiving this one because it goes lazy with the fan service. Hagure Yuusha had the main character doing creative things to harass his harem. Devil Sister, the girls all just rub up against the protag, moan, and a lot of boob shots. But it still does have somewhat of an interesting story with the hero village and the demons, so I don't totally hate it.
