They don't literally run the world, but that's people lives now, everything has to be bought from a store. The Ma and Pa small business has been closing down and going to Wal-mart, Publics, ect.

LOL @ people who say world's already ruled by corporations

Obviously corporations aren't ruling ENOUGH of the world, otherwise all these peeps that AREN'T under the control of corporations wouldn't be running amok... Terrorists, North Korea, Iran, Syria, etc etc etc

Silly kids.

Idiots like Kim Jong Un and ISIS gain power to keep us distracted from what the elitists are doing. The media is controlled by our future NWO overlords, after all. Every time Vladimir Putin does something to get our attention, a billionaire is killing polar bears or making illegal deals with terrorists. We just never hear about it because Putin riding a horse shirtless is an effective distraction.

In real life the Corporation basically has for all intents and purposes, taken over in some countries.
*Some.

Given that, I, like many others, will work with what I have to gain influence enough to achieve standard of living that allows me to reshape the world as I see fit to the degree that I am satisfied with the quality of life I enjoy.

Depending on who you are, that could mean anything from living out your days as a corporate peon and being satisfied with just that, climbing the ladder to a degree that you can reshape the world as you see fit because the poverty of others, or some other societal phenomenon hampers your personal enjoyment of life to the degree that you refuse to accept it, or failing that, find other means.
That last one is how revolutions begin gentlemen.

If I'd done something Corporate Empire no like, move to Cuba. Free housing & healthcare, perks of being a propaganda mouthpiece for the party...

Or North Korea. You know you've got it bad when you're forced to defect to North Korea.
Though it has been done...

+ No Corporate influence so I'd be safe from the Merc Goon Squads hired by my former corporate masters to off me.

Shit pay for all jobs but I'd survive and depending on what corporate entity/corporation state I was fleeing from, life elsewhere under a different system might actually be better; who knows?
Though I doubt it.
We've got it pretty good; all told, and as long as we keep believing that, nothing will ever change.

On an unrelated note, curious why this question was asked.
Are they fishing for story ideas or is this just random?
Not seeing how this relates to anime.

You and others have zero idea. I should make a separate post.

Ummm.... pretty sure corporations already run the world. Sorry.

I'm on this one. Especially when both my occupations revolve 'round huge corporations themselves.
