When rating an Anime how do you go upon rating it? Do you go about it by judging it like a regular TV Show/Movie etc, or do you rate it differently than other social media?

You have to take into account a couple of things in rating Anime

1. Story (Is it interesting? Is it worth telling? Does the story Present it's ideas effectively etc.)

2. Animation / Presentation (Does the animation complement the story, is it jarring? Were there obvious Production issues ? Does the animation style fit the story it's trying to present?)

3. Voice Acting (Were the actors appropriately cast? Were their performances good?)

4. Music (is the music used appropriate for the scenes it's used in? OP / ED appropriate?)

5.Overall (How well do all the elements that make up the Anime come together.)

That's the criteria I use when I rate an anime, but the most important question to ask? Do I like it?

Animation is a little bit different than critiquing a regular TV show, but most of the elements are the same, just applied differently.

exactly what he/she said; I would just add personal enjoyment and a comparison to its original source (manga or light novel I happen to read them)

Kinda like was said above. Subjective > Objective for me.

You can rated by set standards or enjoyment. Just like some movies who may have low critics review but are the most enjoyables.

I care more about how much I will enjoy than technicality.

Writing, directing, art, acting, music. I'll invest in any plot, as long as the fundamentals are there.

I rate pretty much everything the same way, including anime.

For me, I just basically go with my gut. Or, I guess you could say what other people call "enjoyment".

However, it's a bit more nuanced than that. Basically, whenever I watch a show, I ask
"Who's the target audience for this?"
I then ask
"How much would they enjoy this show?"
And then I rate accordingly.

I don't objectively rate entertainment, nor have i ever found objective ratings very helpful. Or even ratings themselves, for that matter. But they do have their uses every now and then.

Now at days people just forget the setting dude. I mean you can have a lame anime that can be save by the setting example of former So Ra No Wo To or new ones like Rokka The Six.

I rate series solely on personal enjoyment, because does anything else really matter? Unless you're making a review, in which case you should have rhyme and reason as to why you enjoyed or didn't enjoy it. But if you're rating something for your self, personal enjoyment is the only factor worth considering.

I go for personal enjoyment also could care less what the public thinks especially dumb ass stats about dvd sells that's japan market not me. If I enjoyed a anime a lot I look at studio who produced it and the writer maybe look up more shows and hope similar likes

Depends on if I'm doing a review or not. Using movie/TV concepts is applicable because anime applies very similar ways of story telling. Not to mention it's very hard to start an intelligent conversation with "I like this one because I think it's cool you should watch it too"

How entertaining is it? If yes, then I look for if it keeps me interested. I generally don't look at how well the voice acting is unless it's so noticeable that I have to comment it. Most of the anime I've been watching don't have that particular problem or I fail to see it; but if a sweet, innocent little girl sounds like a really mature old lady then I've got a problem.
