With so much weird and dangerous shit happening in the world, I've been wondering about whether or not we'll make it to 2100 (the 22nd century) recently.

So, tell me, what do you think?

I honestly have no idea. :3

My vote is no. I think that currently humanity has screwed the world up far too much. Let's face it. The current earth, as we know it, is dying.

Personally I think that Hummanity should be concerned with cutting down the population, using more renewable energy, and working on the space doughnut that I'm going to live in when I'm old.

edit: Behold! the space dounut:

Good point. But, is there anything we can do about the Earth dying?

...And, if there is, then will we actually do it?

Yes! There are tons of things that we can do!

-Drastically reduce how much CO2 we release into the atmosphere
-Practice the 4 R's (reduce, reuse, recycle, & respect)
-Conserve water if you're in a drought prone area
-Use renewable energy
-ect.

Sadly not many people actively practice all of these things. Kudos to you if you do.

If you are talking about "we" as in "alive-today," then it depends on luck and genetics. But if it is about people as a species, then we will probably survive, though a great many things may change in how we live daily lives. People are very capable of surviving, to the extent that we destroy everything around us to ensure so. There may be a precipitous population drop, but I have little doubt that some groups of humans will inevitably survive, stepping over the smoldering remains of their friends and families to do so.

Probably, it's not that far off.I just hope that by then they develop a child proof medication lid that every child can't open and a very arthritic consumer doesn't need a tactical nuke to open.Bastards!

Even if all hell breaks loose, I reckon we'd at least make it to the 23rd century before we wipe ourselves out.

Why wouldn't we?

Remember, our non-human and human ancestors survived through all of Earth's mass extinction events, i.e. super volcanoes, giant meteors, viral epidemics... and pandemics I can't remember which one is local.

We can afford to be environmentally unfriendly for the next several centuries.

The most likely things that can destroy people are black holes or the universe rips itself, something that we can't control. We are intellectually superior to our ancestors, there's no reason why we can't survive better than them.

Humanity as a whole probably will, but there's about 10% chance I make it that long.
