my personal theory is that some anime are being made faster than the manga they're based on. And since there seems to be so many complaints about filler episodes, the anime companies decided to shorten the seasons to give the manga people time to make new chapters

@trixxtooraw, Not sure if someone brought this up already but Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma only took one week off, it's airing the new episode this Friday. I'm guessing the same thing happened with Tribe Cool Crew as it's listed under Crunchyroll's "Continuing Simulcast Titles." As for everything finishing it's run at 12/13 episodes...

That's just the normal length of an anime season, the are still shows that are going over that like World Trigger (coming up on episode 38), Baby steps (coming up on the 15th episode of the season), Cardfight!! Vanguard G is around 37, or Folktales from Japan is at 170... Then you have Sailor Moon Crystal which has been going for a year but only comes out with an episode every other week or so putting it at 26ish. Oh right so I don't miss out on the obvious ones Naruto (419), one piece (701) and Fairy tail (67).

So I don't really think anything has changed from your childhood it's just that because anime is more accessible now you're able to find the shorter run series that you might have otherwise passed by when they came out on VHS some of which are gems and some that might not end up being your cup of tea ^.^

I think you have selective memory.

For me, it doesn't matter as long as the anime wraps up nicely.

I watched new anime titled- Snow white with the red hair was pretty good so I checked scheduled for 12 episodes this run and then they already announced another 12 for 2016 so I guess the 2 cour system is common but I would take 24 episodes in 1 season any day

It's because they jump the gun on when to start series. They start too early, catch up, and call that the show.

Yeah, I wish they make the anime longer but that's their choice. If I created an anime I know I would make it past I at least the 30 mark. I guess it depends on how long the manga is. There's always ova or part 2.

True, you need that doe but if the manga that popular and loved why not try continuing it a little bit, I mean don't do like DBZ, but a few episodes won't hurt. Or maybe a part 2, I mean why not, what's the worse that can happen?

Wouldn't a better question be "Why are some of the new anime last less then 10 minutes an episode?"

Well, if you want my personal opinion, it would probably be to test the market's waters. By putting out a small amount of episodes, the company can test the popularity of the anime in question and see how much merchandise it can move. If they find the anime has a high enough payoff, then they'll make another season or two. Maybe even expand to a long-running franchise. If I'm looking it in a business perspective, I would rather sink more time and resources into an anime that would sell more merchandising than an anime that only sells half as much. While it may be good to make another season of the latter, it's considered way too risky considering the sales of merchandise related to it. However, investing in the former is bound to have a higher payout in the end. It's kind of like why game companies release remakes and new versions of a game in the first place. They tried it, the buyers love it, they're making a ton of money, they keep releasing more remakes and new versions. In the end, it's all about the money anyway.

OMG THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS. I knooow right?! It's driving me crazy. ESPECIALLY WITH HUNTER X HUNTER. Before Hunter X Hunter was an anime, but then they remade the anime so the storyline can progress faster. So far, it has but now it's on haitus. Like I'm just sitting here wondering if the story will ever go on. I know the author is having some problems, but I just........... NEED THE STORY TO BE COMPLETE. I swear, someone should give the author a mother fuckin' AWARD if he completes the series.

Also, WHEN WILL SNK SEASON TWO BEGIN? I heard it would start after Kuroko no Basuke is over but that's taking like three years. I know I could read the manga, but I don't want too. I want to watch it and know WHAT IS IN EREN'S BASEMENT?!?!

Anyways, rant over. PEACE <3
