Meh, it's just some space object to me. A space object is a space object. A rock is a rock. Doesn't matter if it's a pebble or a boulder.

Getting a better understanding of our celestial backyard is not "something useless", especially when it comes time for us to eventually have to leave this particular blue ball of dirt we currently call home, because we screwed it up to the point that it was beyond capable of sustaining human life. If anything more money should be going into this kind of stuff, rather than finding the latest way to turn another human into a puddle of red goo.

I'm living right here, right now.
Are you going to live on another planet any time soon?
Has this done anything to benefit me?
No.

Sending some sort of science project into space hasn't helped.
Gazing at other planets instead of our own.
Some people are too existential for their own good;
So much so, they forget they have a life and they don't live it.

Sorry, but i'd rather have money spent on something that can possibly help my mum's schizophrenia.

First of all not all money is going into one specific area. Money being spent on the medical field is different from the money being spent on scientific fields such as astronomy.

Secondly giving funds to science is helping humanity in the long run, just like funds going the medical field is doing. Hate to break this to you but we ourselves are screwed. Very few of us will ever see the direct benefits of the things being funded and researched right now. And yes that unfortunately includes your mom. It sucks she has schizophrenia, but it is all likely she won't live to see a cure for it. None of us probably will. And taking money from one field with long term benefits for humanity to give it to another will not speed up that process. Research of this nature is something that takes a long time. That may not be what you want to hear, but that is the truth.

And that's before getting to the bullshit that is the big pharmaceutical companies will probably do something to screw people over even if/when a cure to schizophrenia is found. Cause, let's just be real here mate, they absolutely will do that. But that particular thing is a completely different topic and I don't want to derail this thread with that.

Sorry. You think I don't know all the things you're saying?
You're trying to hard hit me by saying 'truth'?
I already know it very well.
Maybe you don't understand.
Clearly you just don't because you think i'm ignorant in the matter.

There's something called hope in this corrupt world of ours.
For some people, that is a very detrimental thing, granted.

Doesn't really matter.
You don't know how I feel or what I know.
But here's a quote. I like it right now.

“Ah you think darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!”

Bruh you don't even know what I am currently going through or what I have waiting in the wings for me. I "won" the genetic lottery ( ) and have nothing but a life of pain and suffering ahead for me, all currently ailments without cures. So I was born into the darkness myself good sir.
