So, it's Evo time again! This weekend Las Vegas plays host to the biggest fighting game tournament in the world with the biggest total prize pool ever.

Who's hype? What are you most excited to see? What matches rocked your socks straight off?

Personally, I'm really excited to see what BlazBlue does for an encore after last years great Top 8 and stupidly amazing grand finals. It's not a main stage game for some reason I still haven't really been able to fathom but it's being run as a side tournament and has a pretty big number of entrants. Hopefully it's hype enough to make the Evo organizers feel bad for not giving it the spotlight.

I'm also really hoping Daigo can come through with another SF4 win. He's appeared both brilliant and vulnerable this year but it would be great to see him take it all in what is likely to be SF4s last year as THE game.

Blazblue isn't mainstage this year because a large part of the community was annoyed at CP's re-release. Explained more in details here http://www.siliconera.com/2015/01/28/evo-organizer-on-why-king-of-fighters-was-dropped-mortal-kombat-x-and-more

I'll be watching Persona and Guilty Gear for sure, and probably most of the side tourneys (AnimEVO in other words). Street Fighter is always a must as well.

Awfully rusty when it comes to fighting games, but I still can't deny the hype of EVO

SF4 now down to top 8 with some extremely hype matches already in the bag. Not a ton of major upsets given how many good players were in there nearing the end. Would have been nice if Daigo basically didn't throw away his match against GamerBee but I'm a GamerBee fan too so I can't be too salty.

SF4 Top 8 to be played out on Sunday:
Winners Side
EG|Momochi vs. MCZ|TOKIDO
aiai vs. INFILTRATION

Losers Side
EG|PR Balrog vs. BE|NEMO
AVM|GamerBee vs. Liquid|NuckleDu

I'm sad that GamerBee and Du are facing off right away as they'd be the two players I'd love to see in the finals. Ai Ai is really appealing to me too though given that he's a Juri player and you just don't see enough of them at any level never mind in Evo Top 8.

Yeah, that really is the MK story this year. Can anyone actually beat SonicFox? I'm not even really a fan of MK but I'll watch at least the Top 8 to see the continuing saga of SonicFox VS Team Yomi.

The kid is amazing. ESL Grandfinals were unreal. "Oh, Kitana is not really a strong character"
Hand it to Sonicfox to make people say "Nerf Kitana now plz"

To be fair, he didn't really start going ham with Kitana until she was buffed.. but he was also basically the reason why Black bot hit with the nerf bat.

Yeah, his Erron Black is still super solid despite the nerfs. His Ermac is disgustingly good too. So much pressure

Tekken 7 going pretty much as expected. Half people who have actually had time with the game blowing everyone up, half people who have never touched a Tekken game before that just signed up for the tourney so they could try the game. It's gotta be frustrating trying to commentate that.

BlazBlue side tournament coming up soon. Running through all pools and finals today. Stream is at:

Dayum, that KI top 8 was great. Feel good for Rico as he's been poking around near the top for so long in so many games but just hadn't been able to pull through before this.

Finals Day about to start with Guilty Gear Xrd up first:

More thoughts on yesterday:
Shocked to not see any of the long time Marvel elite in the Top 8 and, as such, I'm just not that interested. I really was hoping Chris G could finally pull out a Marvel win in what is possibly the game's last year at Evo. He's won everything else but has fallen short at Evo every single year. Failing that, I wanted Clockwork to take it but he's out as well. Right now I'm pulling for either KBR or RayRay but my hype level is significantly diminished.

SonicFox in losers of MKX after a pretty solid thumping from HoneyBee (Canada Represent!). I definitely wasn't expecting this much non0US representation but I;m actually more excited because of it. As appealing as the SonicFox VS Yomi gauntlet could be it was getting a little stale.
