They really need to update to HTML5 because flash is slow now like since YouTube is now using HTML5 all the way it goes very fast and HTML5 loads faster so if crunchyroll is going slow HTML5 won't cut out but flash does

Isn't YouTube still using Flash for any videos with advertisements, and the HTML5 player is only the default for videos without any advertising attached?

I would doubt that, as it would mean anyone visiting the site using a browser that lacks Flash would either have access to the videos without ads (giving the viewer a substantially diminished experience) or those videos would be stripped of ads (lessening YouTube's revenue, and possibly costing them if the content provider required revenue per view).

One quick way to test this would be to go to a video known to have ads (any of the legit anime channels like GundamInfo should do) with an HTML5 browser without Flash (such as Chrome on Android or Safari on iOS) and see if one gets both the pre-roll ad and the video.

If you are talking about the videos with display ads that overlay the bottom of the screen (rather annoying for anything subtitled), those might be an exception. I don't see why pre-roll video ads or even interstitial video ads would be a reason for YouTube to revert to Flash after they declared HTML5 the default back in January.

That may be old info, from when HTML5 was only an option. and it was made the default after they worked out most of the kinks. I do know that every once in a while, I'll get the Flash player for some videos.

I don't think I was on CR last night so I missed this, but I just checked the site, Is It Down Right Now, and it seems it was last down 4 & half hours ago (7am Eastern time). So if it's been down since about 8pm Saturday night, then that really is quite a long time. Hopefully, whatever is going on, it can be resolved without this frequently happening.

One of the goals of HTML5 Video is to allow for native playback without third-party plugins, so the fact that you need to download some for multiple browsers means you're missing the point of moving away from things like Flash.

A honest?? with Mozilla (Firefox ) calling for an end to Flash isn't the writing on the wall ? It was great for the longest time but constant updayes / crashes / it is just annoying !

And the help forum has no many comments about the semi-ban on the Flash last week has gotten a lot of attention!

BTW isnt the CR role player an oxymoron with its unique settings and DRM ??

And ongoing problems with the CR / streaming problems has lot of comments too! I have been suffering for two years now and so have a lot of other people ! Some have dropped their CR subs !

I couldnt watch any anime for 14 hours yesterday ! Every week I send in 3 or 4 more tickets! So I wish you could be in my shoes! I am a paying customer!

Not to diss CR but I can watch [email protected]) with very liitle problem. Yes there is a hiccup now and then but not on a scale like CR.

Then you get the standard answer all the time ! And I use two different browsers also.

Another good question I take care of my programs / updates clena my caches etc ! I work hard to make my PC run good ! I am not A PC software / PC analyst ! Why do I have to go beyond the standard upgrades / maintenance to make CR anime work!

I am thnking about the Kobi player but the instructions are confusing ! There it is a plug-in so CR users can watch anime .

And I stand by the Plug-Ins in for You Tube ! I listen to a lot of music and the Flash Player crashed all the time wouldnt start ! I have not in over a month with HTML.5 had a crash !

The bottom line it took me almost 24 to 36 hours to watch all the anime( 12 shows) Sat Sun on CR It affected my viewing elsewhere too ! So tea I am really disgusted / thank goodness the anime is pretty good this saeson!

I am watching 45-48 shows plus the Funi Dubs so I dont need glitches .

I read manga regulat 8- 10 ans some I cant start becuse of the iisues lost time here at CR
