I get heartburn because of medication I take. Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid all seem to do the job.

What strength of Nexium you use? The 20mg pill is over-the-counter now.

My son suffers from it and so does one of my daughters. My ex wife had it in conjunction with a hiatal hernia. No fun.My son found that when he took off 40 lbs it helped but he still had bouts.

Nexium and Prilosec are pretty much the exact same molecule. Unless you have a good perscription plan try generic prilosec (omeprazole) and save some money.

I was on Losec for it for a few years, tilting my bed (raising my head 5-7cm) helped though it seems to have gone away for the most part now. Occasionally get it these days but pretty rarely.

I had heartburn a few times but it's extremely rare.

The most memorable time was when I took a shot of Everclear (95%) and chased it with Everclear (75%). It was a good recipe for instant heartburn and I stopped drinking the rest of the night.

You wanna be careful with antacids. Acid Reflux isn't a "sickness" there's no germs involved. My little sister has/had it.

You don't wanna use antacids, you wanna find out what food triggers your acid hitting your esophagus and cut out that food/chemical. Antacids decrease the amount of stomach acid you have, it doesn't magically fix it, it drains stomach acid, but that may not be the problem you have. There was a point in time you probably didn't have acid reflux, or maybe you always did but it just never acts up(same as not having it).

You should keep a log of what hurts you and what doesn't, we did this for my sister and stopped giving her antacids. It stopped acting up after she put the spicy/saucey/etc food back in her diet. It can act up rarely from time to time of the food is super spicy or has tons of sauce. But it'll be bearable having it once every 2 months instead of popping antacids for quick relief.

Medicine isn't going to fix this condition, your body will fix itself slowly over time after you cut out the troublesome food.

You can talk to me about the condition if you want. But I'm 100% sure that your diet is the probably and not your body.

I ate a fried egg sandwich before going to bed once and I woke up at 4am with this pain in my chest, I thought one of my lungs had collapsed or something. The pain subsided after like 4 days, if you want to avoid acid reflux then don't eat too much fatty food. fat = stomach acid.

I get bad heartburn once in a while, but I'm usually fine after a few Tums. Luckily I haven't had anything real painful.

I had it for like 6+ years, I almost had to take one Proton-pump inhibitor everyday, which are drugs whose main action is a pronounced and long-lasting reduction of gastric acid production. My digestive system was a mess pretty much. I was afraid of esophagus cancer.

When I went to a dermatologist and she found the beginning of Insulin resistance traces, which is one of the first symptoms before having diabetes, that were the last straw for me.

I changed my whole eating habits, and because of that I've lost weight, I have more energy, I didn't develop diabetes and best of all, its almost 2 years now and I haven't had the need for medication at all.

What I like of this new life style is that I eat Japanese-based cuisine (wisely and not inheriting the bad things of it, and no, is not sushi everyday, lol).

I can tell you more but I already wrote a lot atm hehe (*´з`) Also, 90% of the ppl can do what I did, but they normally prefer to stick into medicines so they can keep their terrible life habits. Everyone is allowed to do w/e they want. But, at the end of the day, a price must be paid.

My two cents from my own life experience. (´・ω・`)ノ
