Er, not really, but there are some. The most recent one I liked was Tokyo Ghoul √A's ending, Kisetsu wa Tsugitsugi Shindeiku by Amazarashi. I would link the mv but I don't want people to complain if they can't stomach it. I can't stomach it lol. I'll just leave the ending clip.

No most are insipid uninspired trash. If your main intake of music is anime soundtracks you really need to expand your horizons. Theres more to life than anime.

Largely speaking though most of the popular Japanese music is terrible just like most of the popular American music is terrible and I will never get the people who seem to hold that Jpop is somehow better than American pop when its nearly the same thing (well not exactly Jpop uses more guitars and horns, American Pop uses more synths)

For the record though the Japanese underground Rock scene has produced some of the greatest noise and punk artists to have ever lived. Merzbow, Boredoms, Shonen Knife, Melt Banana, Boris, Zeni Geva, Hantarash, and Tricot(more math rock than noise or punk but there still good) are all fucking great.

I consider 80s the peak of rock music but thats largely cause of the underground independent rock scene.

Really I never knew that.

Dude I listen to albums of just guitar feedback that most would consider terrible. Of course theres no such thing as objective quality in music its all up to the listener to determine whether they like what they hear.

seriously though noise musicians in Japan perform and involve themselves with J-pop artists. Hijokaidan recorded two albums with Brand-new idol Society. Seiichi Yamamoto has composed pop music. It always has a place and mainstream music can be credited for a lot.

I actually like the Hijokaidan Brand-new Idol Society collab albums alot.

I do recognize Jpop has merit to it like all art even though I personally dislike it. Pop music has its place culturally just like Jazz. I dislike alot of the music in both genres.

I should also point out that by Pop music I strictly mean in terms of "music that is popular" and not "music with a pop structure" alot of the time its not really the pop structures or melodies that turn me off but the super clean production.

I also firmly hold that pop musicians can be used in great ways. Kanye Wests albums are a testament to that one can create fantastic groundbreaking art with generic pop musicians.

There are a few good ops and eds but the OSTs are usually the best.

There is a large range. That's like saying any song in a movie sucks; it's just too open of a question and you will always find an exception. If your into J-pop or other Japanese music and you suddenly find one of your favorite songs in an anime you will be surprised and yet very happy

im no expert when it comes to anime, but Ive seen enough to have an opinion on op and ed songs. theyre terrible. very few are decent but most are terrible. I always see somebody posting their favorite op or ed song and it makes me want to vomit. are people that brainwashed that they worship these parts of an anime? I know some people don't dwell on this too much but I would think the Japanese could come up with something better. sounding like some 80s trash

Depends on your taste in music. It's all subjective. I personally think some of them all really good, and some are horrible.

Yes I love it.

Even the sound of the "80s trash" where you don't find in American music anymore.
I love their guitar riffs

I don't like most anime openings and endings because I feel they can be redundant and that is why I skip them I like the opening and ending for Samurai Champloo and I like the opening for Cowboy Bebop but that's about it.
