And the other big headache that I have to deal with is that for preordered stuff I have no way of knowing when my stuff is going to ship.

This is the biggest issue I've had, and is probably why I'll never pre-order something from them again. The item I bought that was in stock came in quickly with no issues at all. The item I pre-ordered still has yet to ship and it's been almost a year since I've ordered it. When I sent a request in to customer service asking what was up and if there was at least an estimated time of release I just got a snarky response chiding me for not being patient about waiting for something.

@StriderShinryu That's the thing if one aims to do any serious figure collecting. Anime figures do have an annoying tendency to get delayed, regardless of manufacturer. A figure I have currently on pre-order from cdjapan should have been released sometime around March, but right now it's delayed to sometime after August...

And one can't really go without pre-orders when it comes to anime figures, especially for the more popular franchises or manufacturers, because once they are actually released more often than not no copies are left for sale...

I also collect artbooks, and it's a bit easier on that side when it comes to availability...

May I inquire on the item in question?

Yeah, a few things. Shipping can be pretty retarded but I can just about afford it. I did once consider buying the I401 sub model from Arpeggio of Blue Steel from here but at £130 not including shipping I thought better of it...

Not too sure as there seem to be several model versions of the l401 sub, but if it's the1/350 model(by Pair-Dot) that includes the small Yona figure, that at least is still available from hobby search for ~$79.

Unfortunately can't find the page on CR Store to compare so I assume that page is already purged? Based on the price difference, I have doubts it's the same...

It was just the Sub itself nothing else came with it and yeah, the page was purged a couple of months ago. A shame really.

Can't be bothered since I dislike dusting shelves and their contents.

No, because shipping wise it just costs to much money (€22.- or more for sticky notes!?). If it wasn't for those high shipping prices I probably would order from the store. Though I often find shipping from the US to EU is very expensive with prices ranging around $ 20.- but the same item shipped from Japan cost around $ 6.-. Despite the fact Japan is further away from the Netherlands, go figure.

One thing Crunchyroll has an issue with is if something falls apart with them getting a product, they don't update to the people that bought the product.

I nearly bought a couple of things, until I found out that shipping was nearly the same price as the product.

Yes, several times. Would pre-order/order some more from them, but other things have taken priority.

What I don't like is:
- No returns. I believe they allow you to exchange if the item has been damaged.
- Just like @VZ68 said. They don't notify you about delays/re-scheduling with orders.
- Sometimes they give you the wrong delivery service in the shipping email. Not really a big deal, but slightly annoying when I'm told the service is being dropped off by the postal service, but then it turns out the tracking number is for FedEx.

To expand a little what I wrote about the differences in prices in the previous post, let's for example take the Takao of Arpeggio figure by Ques Q...

Being a premium member, I get a discount so instead of €95 (~$103), I can pre-order it for €88 (~$95). Well, that sounds good...

...except I can pre-order the same figure from a Japanese online retailer like hobby search and amiami for around ~$70. cdjapan lists that same figure at $79.

I doubt shipping fees differ much whether I opt to ship it from a US-based retailer(CR, J-list, etc), or a Japanese retailer(cdjapan, hobby search, etc), however the customs duty on an anime figure, imported to here in Finland is 24%, calculated on the item price+shipping fee, so the overall price would rise in addition to the list price, were I to choose CR.
It's not much for each individual case perhaps, but eventually it'll add up. I do have a budget to care about too.
On second thought, forget that, $95 > $70, it is a lot ...

In its core it comes down to the current exchange rates I think. Yen is low right now in relation to euro and dollar, and unfortunately for places like CR and j-list, as long as it remains that way they'll continue to be at a disadvantage...

@BlackStarLine
I think I figured out the model you were referring to, it most likely was this, by GoodSmileCompany;
http://www.goodsmile.info/en/product/4949/GSA+I+401.html
The price you mentioned, £130, isn't too much off the mark. Official price is 23000 yen (~£120), however most Japan-based online stores have the price set at around 20000 yen(~£105).

However all pre-order slots for it are filled so anyone still yearning for it, sorry, it's a bit late now...

The one thing that annoys me with that is there is 24/7 container tracking worldwide, so there is zero excuse unless A: container falls overboard (happens quite a bit) or B: They load 5,000 Hello Kitty dolls instead of the Sinon figmas you ordered. Which you won't know until you pop the can open.

It seems delayed shipping and no notification thereof is something others have faced as well. As a Premium member in the U.S., CR Store's price, even with shipping, can occasionally undercut that of places like Amiami and as such, and I've ordered things a few times previously (and have a preorder waiting even now). Occasionally they'll even have an item that has sold out (i.e. maximum pre-orders already taken) elsewhere at my usual sources. I've been reasonably satisfied, and my only gripe would be the one time arrival was delayed, and no notification was ever given until I asked for it. As others have mentioned, release dates of figures (i.e. the "official" dates they're available, even in Japan itself) do get delayed, sometimes repeatedly and for months on end. There are sites one can check to keep track of that. One figure I did not receive until some two months after the official release date, which after inquiring of CR directly was due to hold up at U.S. Customs. None of these things are CR's fault or anything they can do anything about, but notification of, for example, a delay due to Customs would at least be minimally courteous, in my opinion.

No. Not even once.

It's always cheaper on amazon.

If it's not cheaper on amazon, then it's cheaper on rightstuf.

&this is with their "membership discount"
