Aromatherapy?
Posted 7/19/15
I was just wondering if anyone else uses aromatherapy and what experiences you have had with it.
What's your favorite blend or oils to use and what kind of diffuser/simmering pot do you use if any?

I am a novice but my favorite oils are Eden's Garden oils, specifically lavender, bergamot, and peppermint although I have experimented with some blends from Healing Solutions.

I use lavender on my feet at night and have gotten excellent sleep since I've started doing so.

Anyways, knock yourselves out

I don't use oils except for personal perfuming sometimes but I do like incense. I have a little iron incense holder with spikes that my grandma got from Japan several decades ago. I like to burn the cone shaped incense. Sandalwood or hinoki are my favorite incense scents. One cone slowly burns for around 2 hours and the room will smell like incense for the next several days. It's nice when you are going to sleep but I avoid burning in the summer since the scent makes the heat feel more oppressive.

Candles could be considered Aromatherapy, maybe. I think.
They are made with scented oils.

I just got into diffusing not that long ago.

Been working wonders tbh :)

and incense is wonderful, I love it.
But my grandparents won't let me
use it They hate the smell
and are afraid it'll burn the house
down.

Just make sure you have a proper incense holder (preferably a cool one with a lid that has holes) and burn just one short piece at a time, taking care to cover with the lid. I have an old wooden rice tub from my grandma's village. I just put some water in it, put a saucer in the middle, and set the incense holder on the saucer for safety. The incense doesn't burn, anyway, it smolders slowly and doesn't even glow unless you blow air on it. A short length of incense is done in like 30-40 minutes.

Could always go with a more....modern scent, too. There exist lemon and berry incenses.

I would, but once again.
My grandparents hate the smell...

Especially my grandma.

So I just use my diffuser,
which for some reason she seems to like x3

I use oils to cleanse and condition my facial skin, since my skin doesn't like commercial creams. I'm experimenting to find the best combination of oils, my current blend has grapeseed oil, apricot kernel oil and lavender oil. I've got a book on aromatherapy which I've been using as a guideline.

Is lavender on the feet supposed to help you sleep? I might have to try that since I'm on medication that makes sleep difficult and I don't want to depend too much on sleeping meds. Do you just apply the oil, or do you massage your feet as well?

I think that's called "having a beer"

Rumor has it, there are scents or oils that will calm you down....but I dunno if it really works.

I've read somewhere that lavender scents helps. I have to do anything or something to help with the anxiety.

Yeah, I try and remove what's causing the issue in the first place. Before I have a complete and total meltdown. It's the only thing that works for me, which sucks because sometimes that means quitting a job or something like that. But if that helps calm you down some, let us know because my liver would like some help lol.

I have a lot of panic attacks so I use lavander body oil and stuff to calm me down. Half the time I just end up sniffing the bottle. Lmfao
