I was thinking, that maybe technology is the one causing people getting cold hearted, because with the permanent new devices and other developments in technology, people is required to act or work like machines and work as fast as machines. I know it is kind a silly topic, but sometimes I got this questions surrounding my head
What do you think?

I think the pace is definitely picking up. Even though our technology should be helping us do stuff, we are more efficient so we now have more stuff to do. We no longer take very long to do each thing, but we have more variety on our plates. When we're not at home or school or work, we are in our cars, where we talk to nobody.

With the advent of easy internet connections for all, people seem to have begun relying on the internet to talk, reducing the frequency of face-to-face encounters. I think this has affected us and made us less social in person. If you go into a restaurant and look around, everyone is a phone zombie. I've always wondered why people must obsessively text and not simply talk to one another. I mean, you guys took the trouble to meet in person, so TALK!

The younger people definitely behave differently from the elders. My grandma's generation is extremely comfortable talking face-to-face. They are quite outspoken and chatty, and are very neighborly as well. She will make food and take it to even people who she hasn't known for long. I don't really see this kind of behaviors nowadays and I'm sort of envious of the years during which this was commonplace.

Of course, that's not to say the technology is without benefits. The benefits are great but there are also drawbacks.

People are people. Some have always been cold-hearted. I don't believe it's more than at any other point in history. IMO, as long as we keep working for justice and fairness, and making steady improvements the way we have been for the past century or so, the world is gradually becoming a better place. Doesn't mean we can ever stop fighting though.

But yes, nowadays people are definitely addicted to constantly checking their devices. Sucked into a virtual reality. Put the device down and be present in the here and now!

We need technology, even though it can cause problems, and it will make the future better in the long run. Have you seen Gurren Lagann? We have to believe in tomorrow and not give in to the fatalism of the Anti-Spirals.

I do believe that people today are more concerned about what's going on with Twitter, FaceBook, Instagram, Tumbler, Twitch, Steam, Hot or Not and cell phones plus many more apps and games. People rather text than to talk on the phone. Kids now a days don't know how to interact with each other. If they do interact it is usually in a negative way.

Kids need to go outside more and play and talk with each other instead of being isolated in their rooms. I know this because I come for the generation where videogames and technology was just starting to really take off and become more advanced. But luckily my parents forced me to go outside and make friends.

I hope we don't rely on technology so much that we become too dependent on it and don't know how to function as humans. It's not in our nature to be isolated. We all need a connection to another human being in order to function and be a productive member of society and fellow human being.

People who are parents age, (88, 89), seem less hardheaded and cold. People that are around my age, (53), seem to be less empathetic, more concerned with their own well-being rather than anyone else, cynically so. People around my brother's age are kind of evenly split.

The thing I see is that people who have had financial hardship tend to be a bit less pragmatic and seem to be more compassionate.

This really isn't new. In the past I have found that most people of means are stingier than hell and people that are poor are more giving. There are statistics that prove if you are rich you give less to charity and if you are poor you give more..... Not just as a percentage of your income but often in overall money/value, depending on your income.

People my age tend to be uncaring or wrapped up in themselves,
people my brother and sister's age around here are just awful...

I don't know what went wrong with the 2000 kids around here.
Must have put something in the water or something

I don't know about cold hearted, but people are sure are rude and think they're know it alls on youtube. The social networks aren't any better, people on Reddit have more brains, that's only my opinion though.

I think how you are or become can start with how you parents attempted to raise you. Did they say respect your elders even if they are your parents or not. Say please and thank you. Simple things like manners and common sense. When talking to somebody look at the face not a keyboard or screen take off your head phone grunting doesn't count as a language. These things are easier when taught at young age.

Name the last time you've talked to a stranger in the check out line, instead of staring at your own smartphone and or texting someone.

Maybe it's because technology makes us
bastards?

Lol I kid. But seriously,
my cousins and siblings spend more time
on their phones than any people I have
ever met.

You take their shit away, then they
get on their iPods,
and now watches?

Fml.

I don't know if people became cold hearted maybe more fake because of internet culture. It's it's own popularity contest and then it transfers to real life so people pretend to be something they are not. For people in general they turn into zombies always looking at their phones but that doesn't mean they are cold hearted. Just when something terrible happens they will take a picture and post on facebook how it made them feel instead of talk face to face XD.

My friends are even some of the worst for this at my age. At conventions we barely talk anymore because they are glued to their phones even at the dinner table. Like christ can facebook not wait 30 minutes while we eat and talk about stuff?
