Kagerou Project in a nutshell. I've heard that the manga is better than the anime, but I'm too lazy to read the manga, so I just watched the anime. Not sure how good of a decision that was.

Eh, Kagerou project is only understandable if you listen to the songs, watch the anime, read the manga, AND read the light novels. You need all of them to understand the entire story.

it took several watches to comprehend the original dub of AKIRA
turns out there's one scene towards the end where they explain it, and if you miss it you're SOL...

Someone beat me to it. My favorite mind-screw anime movie. I just love to re-watch the parade.

Blade & Soul. Having played the game I enjoyed the anime but it took me a bit to realize they weren't following the game's storyline but instead creating something new roughly based in the game's lore.

Paranoia Agent and Kyousogiga were pretty out there, for Kyousogiga they at least had that .5 episode where they explained all the symbology. PA nothing was explained until the end lol

I watched Persona 4 before playing the game. It made sense to me.

I actually had no idea what was going on in Chunibyo but kept watching it anyways. Then I found out that I was actually watching the second season even though I had no idea a first one existed.

Honestly ? in my case it was Ergo Proxy, I seriously had to re-watch it and without playing a game on the 2nd screen. I sort of got lost.
After a re-watch it got better.

Also FLCL was sort of "taxing" if unprepared.

I watched Ghost in the Shell when I was younger in my early teens and I couldn't really follow all the story 100% but what I did follow it was interesting so I kept watching it.

I feel the same way. I felt wrong for watching it and not getting anything out of it.
