well to make up for it I was wayy above my reading level. I guess everything balances out. Thank you tv for teaching me how to read. Really. Sesame Street and Electric company. .I'm showing my age there

I had to do that phonics reading stuff... I still hate the name Pam... and the word ham... and ran... and anything that rhymes with those sadistical words... I actually sucked at reading.. but my mother forced it onto me... I don't regret it.. but many books were harmed in the making of me lol.

I have an official Asperger's diagnosis with a side of OCD and ADHD (or was it just ADD? Meh, whatever). If you dare to sit in "my" seat, prepare for the death stare, lol. As far as I am concerned, though, I'm crazy and I know it, and that's what makes life fun. On a side note, I was also born with severe cataracts, which were removed and replaced with plastic lenses when I was around 7 I think.

I lost my leg in Iraq does that count?

Technically it is a disability since you have no leg. So yeah I guess.

I'm perfectly normal, with a pretty easy life, not so much for others in my family. My little brother is autistic, low functioning. My older brother is a paranoid schizophrenic who hasn't been able to hold a job in years and lives with my parents, he's 32.

So I may not suffer from anything, but I know how debilitating mental disabilities are on victims and their families.

I was born with a deformatity in my foot that was completely screwing up the growth on my left foot. It was causing my toes to bend downward and my entire foot to shift to the left. It hurt like hell to walk wherever I went. I had a surgery done about four years back to strighten my foot and toes. They changed my bone structure and muscle structure so it had the shape of an arc and forced my toes to strighten out. I was in the operating room for about 5-6 hours according to my surgeon. Tore the hell outta my foot and put it back together.

I was bed ridden for a month with a giant rod shoved up my foot so my foot would stay together. That was painful to take out. Was on crutches for about six months, took two months of physical theraphy to re-learn how to walk and now I have to wear shoes 24/7 because it still hurts to walk on hard surfaces but hey I can atleast walk normally now.

NOW I have a possible second surgery coming up focusing on my ankle and hopefully make it so it can get rid of the pain completely and I can actually start running again. Gonna kind out more about that in September.

I'm also autisic, I think it's low functioning (I get low and high functioning mixed up all the time). Got diagnosed when I was about four years old and is most likely the reason I'm socially akward and hate crowrds in cramped places.

Thank you for sharing, but I wouldn't call them "victims." When you're dealing with something like this, the worst thing in the world is to feel like you're being pitied or seen as helpless.

In reply to the thread: I have a few disabilities myself.

You can refer to it however you wan't, I'll do the same. To me, my brothers are victims of their disabilities.
