I've been wanting to make a lightsaber hilt for years now (yes, I'm a super huge Star Wars nerd), and recently was working with some PVC pipe that was the perfect starting size for such a prop. I've also wanted to make Loki's Chitauri scepter from The Avengers for quite some time.. but then I thought, given the interest in Loki as a Sith, why not both? Thus, I made a Loki's lightsaber hilt:

The main shape is 1" PVC pipe, with a slight bend about 2/3rds of the way down the length, which I did using a heat gun. Outer parts are mostly 1/8" foamed PVC / sintra sheets (also shaped using the heat gun), along with some thin HDPE plastic. The emitter nozzle is a thinner PVC tube, wrapped with some elastic banding, and it's painted mostly with Rustoleum metallic spray cans, Plasti-Dip black spray for the elastic banding, and used thinned black acrylic paint to antique around the edges of the main body.

It's about 12" long from pommel to emitter nozzle tip, 16" overall. Most of the shapes were cut from vector art files I made, so if anyone wants to make their own copy, let me know and I can send those over to help!

Very nice, you must be a big Marvel fan. Loki as a Sith is awesome. Sign me up, I would like to do this, because I'm an artist.

Thanks! Very much a fan.

Completed a few more over the weekend:

Leftmost is pristine, rightmost has some antiquing done to bring out the colors and deepen the edge lines, top is slightly used (and recently was used to run someone through.. sorry, Coulson), and bottom is more battle worn and grimy. Some details on the wear and tear:

Painting's still in progress, especially on the top one (need to tone down the reds), but I'm happy so far.
