Post Reply Swearing constantly
Posted 7/22/15
I swear so much,
I don't mean to... it just kind of comes out.
I don't mean it to offend anyone,
most of the time I'm just trying to get
my point across.

I use f*ck
and the C word (not crap)
very sparingly.. cept when
i'm talking about my ex aunt
and ex stepmother.

I used to bottle up my anger and aggression, which sent my blood pressure through the roof then I saw this...

I use to swear a lot. Now swearing makes me uncomfortable. I'm not really sure why. It only seems to slip out now when I'm angry/frustrated.

I curse a lot when i'm by myself mostly due to stupid little mistakes I catch myself doing. If i'm around others I will swear sparingly or not at all, it really depends on the location and conversation currently taking place. If i'm out in public I won't due to the fact that Kids could be around, if I'm hanging out at a friends house or what not then yeah I will say things here and there but in moderation.

I feel swearing is essential to my speech, simply because it keeps my flow going. Ever since I could speak, I've always had a speech delay where I end up stuttering at least once in a conversation. Thankfully, swearing closes that gap for me as a simple filler. To me, swears are just words. If you're too hurt by a mere word, then I really can't take you seriously (Maybe except the n word, that's something else)

I can be professional at work when I need to be, but as soon as that break room door is closed.... and also outside of work...

I keep thinking I should try toning myself down though, and I've been holding back here and there while talking with others lately. It feels like I need to have a more formal type of speech now that I'm getting a bit older, especially since I'm finally looking outside of retail work and stuff like that. In a more professional setting I don't think I'd want to curse no matter who is or isn't in the same room as I am, and in order to do that I need to really focus on not doing such things so much at any point during the day. Blah.

I used to be terrified of anyone who cursed at all, but now I'm just kinda intimidated by people who swear all the time. It also lowers my opinion of them a bit because it seems like they're not descriptive enough to use non-curse words. I know that's not necessarily what constant swearing means, but that's what it seems like to me.

i look down on it

i understand that most people don't care about having good manners, and that's whatever, but making it like its own language is over the top

1. I don't curse or swear at all... Most people find this odd in a twenty-something college kid.

2. I don't like it when other people do it, but it wouldn't (and doesn't) keep me from being friends with people.

3. What exactly is the difference between swearing and cursing anyway?

I swear a lot in my thoughts. But I don't express it.

If you have a enough swear words then why not fit them in to every sentence?

Definitely not me. When I was a teen I had a best friend who swore a lot. Mother had told me that people who swore had a limited vocabulary. I found that my friend was very expressive and had a large varied vocabulary. She was entertaining.

If I really hated someone I'd insult them be using quite a few swear words at once, to make a point that I hate them.

I actually never swear. It's just something that doesn't seem necessary. I personally don't think it's very attractive when someone curses in every sentence.
