There was Ragnarok Online, the original one. Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst was also a huge favourite of mine. On the more modern side I would say Vindictus and FFXIV.

At the moment I have been playing the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Online 2, though I used to play FF XIV some.

I played FFXIV for a bit when it came out again. for free Tera is actually one of the better ones as well as Vindictus in my opinion. Elsword is cool for a side scroller. Diablo 3 isn't bad but gets boring doing the same thing over and over again, and probably not considered an mmo in the traditional sense, Path of Exile is also excellent for being free.

Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter is pretty good and has a ton of stuff to do in the end game. I've stopped playing but as far as I've seen the game still gets constant updates and has a ton of players.

Try Guild Wars 2, In my opinion its very good, it doesn't need a very good computer to play it meaning that if you can't play it your computer is as messed up as mine, it has great graphics, and many other great features that make interaction with other players better than many other MMO's

FFXIV is amazing, but it is also the only MMO I have seriously played. I played a little of WoW, Old Republic and Destiny but FFXIV was way more enjoyable than any of them. By the way, if you are a fan of the Elder Scrolls games, stay away from The Elder Scrolls Online. I watched about 10 hours of gameplay while at a friends house and both of us thought that the game didn't have that Elder Scrolls feel to it at all, and it seemed to focus more on PvP than anything, which some people will like, but when I want to compete against others it will be in a FPS, not an MMORPG.

final fantasy XI and Everquest best MMO's ever made hands down. I've played most MMO's alot, and those are the best. Modern MMO's are for noobs. FFXI and EQ were amazing, the raids, the world, everything. They were hard and you had to know what you were doing to even do decently in the games. I never had so much fun as when I played those. I even played the EQ retro server not to long ago and was in the top guild and stayed until halfway through luclin. (They release a new EXPO every like 6 months starting from classic EQ). I wanted to wait for planes of power but I got bored after a while as real life was in the way. But I never had so much fun as when I was able to play through luclin. Just wish I kept at it to get through planes of power too, miss the old days in the elemental planes I loved my enchanter, and in FFXI I had a WHM, RDM, BLM, SAM, NIN.. all at 75 with tons of merits and the best gear you could buy. It was so much fun. Great game. I can never decide if EQ or FFXI was more enjoyable but I love them both. EQ had better raids, but FFXI had tons of cool stuff and an amazing world. Playing jobs at max level with great gear just made the game amazingly fun.

I played FFXIV alot too, had a BLM and WHM at max level with good gear, but it can't compare to FFXI and EQ. Although as of now FFXI is awful with the new expansions and isn't fun anymore, EQ is fun on retro servers, but unfortunately as I said, I stopped playing before PoP and never felt like catching back up.

Also played WoW alot, burning crusade was great, but I got bored and again it doesn't even compare to EQ or FFXI

Unfortunately, all MMO's these days are just terrible, hand holding, noob games. I miss EQ and FFXI where you had no guidance, no quests for easy XP or anything like that. I miss the days of camping in a zone and pulling mobs for XP. You had to be good to have your party perform well. I miss getting into a Japanese party and having them tell me I was "Incredibly Tough" White Mage/RDM/etc. EQ's raids were out of this world, 72 people raiding elemental zones and plane of time. I miss those days so much.

My favorite would be Ragnarok Online (back when Gravity still owns it) it's my first mmo (I was 7 haha!) But right now the only mmo I'm playing is tera online and it's rather tedious to play after a while

Well, I played WoW for 8 years, at a point in time I would have said that was the best, but, Thaaaats not happening anymore uhuhuhu

Tbh ArcheAge was fucking glorious, till Trion chizzled away its majesty till it was a poorly styled raped and chipped remains of what could have been a masterpiece

But, I got hopes for Black Dessert

I guess my real answer here is that atm they all suck, and I've played most of them lol

But thats like, just my opinion fam'

It's been a long time since I've played, but I used to love Final Fantasy XI.
Yes, XI. not XIV. Laugh all you want. I hope to be able to play it again someday.

Recently, the only mmo I've seriously played was The Old Republic.
Though, honestly, I played it as if it where a single player game.
I loved playing the game as an Imperial Agent.

I used to play a browser based MMO called Star Wars Combine.
Honestly, it's a fun and unique game at first. You need to earn money for stuff,
so you join a faction. You get payed a monthly wage by your faction, etc.
Almost the entire economy is player driven, given that players both run and work in factions.
And every single in-game government is player run.

Eventually, I stopped playing though. Things kinda became stagnant.
small, interesting factions got swallowed up by large, generic ones.
I also began to notice just how seriously people where taking the game,
and how unwilling people where to let anything, at all, change.

It was a common (though rule breaking) occurrence for Faction Leaders to die, or even off themselves,
and then create a new character and be put back in charge of the faction they led as their last character.

It's a great role playing set up... ruled by meta gamers.
But it was fun for a little while.
