I just found out from the forum before mine this is really horrible. I plugged in my roku which is much older and it looks blurry on my tv. Will chromecast look blurry as well on my samsung smart tv?

Yes! We definitely shouldn't especially since I've been a faithful customer. I plugged in my old roku and it doesn't look as good as my smart hub app was im so pissed off right now.
I might have to buy a roku 3 and I really don't want to do that. Thanks a lot Crunchyroll for nothing.

Your Roku shouldn't look blurry (unless you have it connected via a composite video cable). If other apps appear to also be affected, check the settings on it to make certain the output resolution is set to what is best for your TV.

The Samsung app was never upgraded to HD, so the Roku output should look better (and certainly does on mine) unless the output resolution is set wrong or the stream from the CDN server is being bandwidth constricted at some point. (The current Roku app adjusts quality based on the available bandwidth).

Yes I do have it plugged into video cable would it be better to use HDMI? And i have a roku 2 but its older its not the newer roku 2 version so im not sure if that has anything to do with it. And i have it on 16:9 widescreen the standard is 14:3 i think. Its on 480p on roku if I had to guess its not super blurry but it looks weird and quality not as crystal clean and vibrant like my samsung 46 inch. It just looks bad on my roku :(.
What kind of roku do you have?

If you are using the analog cables (with the yellow, red, and white RCA plugs), the output is limited to 480i (not even 480p), and suffers from all the problems inherent to composite video. HDMI would be markedly better, even at the same resolution, but would also allow you to bump up the resolution to the same as your HDTV (which I would assume is 1080p, for any recent 46").

I have the Roku 3 now, but I had an XD|S (even older than your Roku 2) up until late October 2013. I just happened to pull it out yesterday to hook it up and reset it to loan to someone with an old CRT TV, and even over HDMI, 480i (which it defaults to to be compatible with everything) looked rather crappy compared to the 720p I had it set to when I first plugged it in.

As TheAncientOne has pointed out, it should look better on all Roku devices if you hook them up via HDMI.

The Samsung app was never capable of HD playback, while the Roku devices should be at least be capable of delivering 720p (except for the very old Roku SD).

Thank you so much for letting me know that it was my video cable and not the Roku itself! I just ordered an HDMI cable on Amazon so really thank you! >_<
