I contacted Samsung tech support through their Live Chat and this is what was said:

Effective June 19th, 2015, Crunchyroll will no longer be supporting Samsung TV.
Alison: no problem
Junius: We are discontinuing support to focus our development teams and improve the Crunchyroll experience.
Junius: This doesn't mean we won't consider supporting Samsung TV devices in the future.
Junius: We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and you should feel free to reach out to Crunchyroll customer support at [email protected] for any questions or concerns.
Junius: Thanks and we look forward to continuing to deliver the best lineup of Anime, Drama and Manga straight from Japan!

I got the Crunchyroll sub because it was on my TV and now...this. I am peeved. On top of it....There was no warning - telling their customers they will be removing the app from Samsung. We pay for subscriptions here, and we should have been notified if they are taking it away from certain devices. I most likely would not have renewed our subscription if I had known this. Because right now (since it i no longer on the TV) the only way for us to view is on my laptop and it is hard to do with 5 of us hovering around a laptop to watch anime together in my family. It's not working out so well.

If your laptop has an HDMI out, and your TV has an HDMI in (which it should), you can hook your laptop up to your TV to watch.

I'm doing something like this right now, I connect my laptop the the tv, however my bed is far away, and not being able to control the laptop from distance to pause/play/stop/etc is a pain in the ass. I'll cancel my whole subscription for good once some seasons end.

Yup I had a friend over and couldn't find it. Just gone. I was sold with the app, and well they sincerely apologize for removing it I sincerely apologize for cancelling and lowering your revenues. Never got HD either.

To those saying just get chrome cast or roku or whatever supported device, well I already got a supported device a thousand dollar smart TV which was supported up to the day it wasn't. Those mad have a right to be mad.

That friend drove 30 minutes to watch some Jojo's and my desktop and laptop are currently out of commission so that was that. Not happy about this at all, guess Netflix will be seeing my streaming money again. They support their apps.

This is disappointing. Just stared to pay for service and this happens. ... considering going back to free membership over this myself. Poor customer communication, portable product support with no updates or HD ability. Netflix does sound nice

Hey everyone,

If you have a PC you can installed Plex Media Server here https://plex.tv/downloads . I know that Samsung support the Plex App. Plex has a plugin for Crunchyroll here https://github.com/MattRK/Crunchyroll.bundle

With this I am able to use Crunchyroll on my Smart TV still, without having to connect a PC to my TV :)

If anyone needs help setting it up, let me know.

Just wondering if you know how plex compares to chromecast, or if they function similarly. thanks!

Plex is free and requires no special dongle to work. As long as your PC and TV are connected to your network, it will work.

I am not too familiar with Chromecast, but it is more of a streaming device, where as Plex basically is directly playing your media files from your PC and trans-coding if necessary via DLNA.

I believe Plex can handle more file types then Chromecast, but don't quote me on that.

Chromecast can stream your desktop too, to your TV. I don't think Plex can do that out of the box, but with the Chromecast App, it can.

Just wanted to say thank you! This works perfectly and actually works better than the old app. Appreciate you sharing!

I posted this in a new thread, but it appears to affect all android TV devices (including the Logitech Revue), not just Smart TVs. I'm more than happy to side-load the older Revue app if I can find the APK; it worked just fine until whatever happened with the streaming service yesterday.

We discontinued support for Samsung, Panasonic, Google TV, and the Ouya. The Logitech Revue is a Google TV device. As we disabled the technical backend for the Google TV devices, attempting to side-load an older version of the app for Google TV devices will not work. As Google themselves have discontinued the support for Google TV (in favor of Android TV) as of 2014, there will most likely be little you can do with it any more going forward, as the very old Android version (3.1) on the device will not be updated any more - which will eventually lead to most service providers discontinuing their support in the near future.

It is probably possible to side-load our Android app onto the device, but you will need to find an old version (still available on Amazon's app store) without HD playback support, as the later versions including HD support require at least Android 4.0. However, we will be unable to provide customer service in case of side-loaded apps. Sorry for the inconvenience.
