I like it, but I wish there was an older selection of stuff too. The new stuff is great though.

I prefer my rolls to be soft. I don't mind if they're a little crunchy though.

Is it worth it to go premium on crunchy roll?

I've been thinking about it for a while now, but I just cannot decide if it really is worth the money or not.

Thank you if you reply!

Go for it, it's definitely worth it I got premium on here only about 4 months after I started watching anime and I haven't regretted it for a second in the 2.5 months I've had it, and I'll definitely be continuing my membership after it expires next year.

I guess one thing you might take into consideration is whether you prefer subs or dubs, personally I loathe dubs so CR is perfect for me but I know a lot of people find it really difficult to watch subs and in that case I could understand why you might be less enthusiastic about going premium, since (especially outside of the US) there are very few available dubs on CR.

Personally I can't say for certain whether or not premium+ is worth it, especially if you live outside of the US, but the standard premium package gives you almost the exact same benefits and is very reasonably priced.

If you still aren't sure, you can always use the free trial thing to see if you think it's worth it.

Oh and in response to the thread question itself, I absolutely love Crunchyroll. Even though I could quite easily watch everything that is on Crunchyroll for free (illegally), there is something bringing me back; I love the layout, the customer care, the forums, the comments on videos, the picture quality, the subtitles (I really like the font idk why), and most of all the huge selection of titles. Even though not being in the US means quite a lot of the titles are region blocked to me, there are plenty enough to satisfy me and I love it still.

Granted there are days when I get frustrated at it when it just fails to load videos or buffers extremely slowly even though I know for a fact that my internet is running at normal speed, but I still spend a good 5-7 hours on here a day, sometimes as much as 15 (I am currently on a 12 week holiday though because I just finished sixth form/I think the equivalent of highschool in the US, I don't always spend that much time on here (unfortunately)).

Thank you very much for your reply.
I watch all of my anime in subs, except for DBZ and FMA 'cause of childhood-memories reasons
It's just that I'm kinda scared that some of the anime that I want to watch in the future are not on here (the only one right now is dragon ball super), so that's kinda holding me back. Are you on + or the regular one?
Thank you very much for your answer though, my mind is a bit more clear after reading it

I'm just on the regular premium deal currently since I live outside the US and so the free shipping (one of the best benefits of premium+ in my opinion) is unavailable to me, and all I really wanted from the membership were things specifically pertaining to anime itself (i.e. no adverts, high picture quality and undelayed simulcasts).

To be honest, it really depends on the kind of things you watch. If you just want to watch 'big' or 'classic' franchises like Dragon Ball I'll be honest in that I can't imagine Crunchyroll licensing any of DB in the foreseeable future, however they do have Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Bleach etc. so that still might be enough to persuade you.

If you are interested in watching a lot of simulcasts or short(er) series that have aired in the last few years, then Crunchyroll is pretty much the best place for it, so far I think CR have announced about 25 anime simulcasts this season whereas Funimation (the other big licensor in the west if you aren't familiar with it) only announced around 15.

Crunchyroll also seems to have a wider variety in terms of genre than you'll find in other places, for example Funimation tends to only license more typical genres (i.e. romance, action, adventure, fantasy, comedy) rather than others like music, sports, slice-of-life etc., whereas CR has these in abundance alongside shows from the more typical genres.

As I said before, it really depends on what kind of things you watch or are interested in, but I can't really recommend premium any more than I have done already

also sorry if this was a bit lengthy I just realised how much I rambled

I actually appreciate the lengthiness of your post a lot! It really helps me out :D

I don't actually watch "big" names that often, the only big one I'm a real fan of is Dragon Ball, other than that I usually watch anime at random tbh!
One thing that bugs me though (idk if it's a mistake maybe?): I don't have a Visa/paypall account, but I do know of going premium through the app store. The weird part though is that the price is different from what they show on the website (I believe it's €5 on the website, €7 in-app). I don't understand why they show different prices for the same service..

Thank you again for your replies though! They helped me an awful lot! I might actually go for a premium account now that I've read your perspective of it, it seems to me now that it's actually worth the money.

Hmm, well I'm not familiar with the app personally, but I checked the prices for premium and premium+ on here and if I convert the currency to € I get that premium is roughly €7 per month anyway (premium+ is around €13), so perhaps they changed the price recently and you just didn't notice?

Obviously the easiest way is to have a Visa or Mastercard debit/credit card (or paypal I guess but I don't know how that works), not only because of the ease of use but because you can then buy a gift subscription from the store which is actually cheaper than the monthly subscription fee.

If as you said you can't use/don't have access to Visa, Mastercard or Paypal then I guess you'd have to use the in-app purchase, but from my calculations that should actually be the correct price.

The only other thing I can think of is that prices for premium & premium+ might be slightly cheaper in European regions (guessing from your reference to euros) owing to a slightly reduced number of titles (I live in the UK so we get somewhere between what the US and what the rest of Europe gets, owing to some US-only licenses crossing over into the UK as well, so it might be more expensive here.) It's possible that as you say the price for premium where you are is €5, which would mean that the €7 on the app is either the price for premium+ or is just a direct conversion from the price in the UK and (presumably) the US.

Basically it would be easiest and best to use a visa/mastercard or a paypal account, but if that's unavailable €7 isn't at all an unreasonable price to pay, as I already mentioned it's the same price we have to pay here and I've accessed CR in mainland Europe before and the number of titles available in the UK that aren't available in the rest of Europe is very small, maybe 1 or 2 every simulcast season (so maybe 8 new titles a year out of around 100).

Also glad to hear I've persuaded you a little :D

Crunchyroll tis awesome with premium I used a guest pass and bam it's so much better you get this skin and stuff on your profile and if you buy even one thing it cancels out the month's cost because it gives you giant discounts...(I couldn't buy anything tho) :l
