Heterosexual male.

Honestly, I don't know what the "proper" identification for that would be. I don't mean to sound rude, but it seems like every time I turn around there's something new that people are identifying themselves as. It gets overwhelming after a while. Especially since you'll occasionally run into people who will get overly offended if you identify them by the wrong thing even though they didn't tell you what they actually identify as. Then you've got the whole crap load of new pronouns that keep popping up that you're supposed to know or else you'll offend someone. Again, I don't want to sound like I'm trying to offend. I guess I just run into tumblr-ites too much. Personally, I don't care what others identify themselves as. If you're biologically a man but you want to be identified as a woman, I have no problem doing that. I just think it gets a little crazy when we start throwing an absurd amount of new terms out at people.

Then again, this could entirely just have to do with how I was raised. Perhaps if I was raised differently, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with the amount of new terms that keep coming out. I don't know.

The way I think that makes it easier to take in is: Due to past discrimination, viewing different sexualities as a sort of science was never explored. Since it is being explored now, definitions and new terms to better define variations are popping up. It has to start somewhere I guess.

Don't worry about it too much. People are who they are. If they get offended by misunderstanding complicated terminology that only a minority know then that's their own problem.

i have to deal with this on occasion working in the medical field, its pretty much always silly looking hipsters in there late teens/early 20s looking for some kinda attention.
pretty much just have to write whats on there licence and ignore the rest, its annoying to have to refer to it(what ever they are) as "they" instead of "her" or "him"

Sorry for over generalizing xD
My bad.

Well I mean, 12 year olds know nothing
really about sexuality.

You know what I mean?

No problem mate. Puberty is a thing, so yeah I agree they don't really know much better at that point.

Yeah, that's basically what I'm talking about. I mean, as Prince said above, there is a reason why these terms are coming out like they are. There hasn't been many studies done on individual sexualities as a science, so now that we're suddenly doing it for every sexuality we can find there's a lot of terms coming out at one time. I think it's just an effect of it all coming out at one time, making it overwhelming for pretty much everyone. People are learning what their sexualities actually are, other people are trying to adapt to the changes from people changing their identities so rapidly. Guess it makes sense that it would be overwhelming with that in mind. I do think that everyone really needs to keep in mind that it's overwhelming. I see a lot of people get really upset when people don't identify them as what they want to be identified as and they don't seem to want to acknowledge that rapid changes like that are going to take a while for people to get used to.

That's one that I'm really not sure how to feel about. I might even be willing to say that I'm opposed to it. It's one thing to make a different term to describe it. It's a whole different issue to take a word that already has a defined meaning and usage and taking that to identify yourself as. "They" is a plural term. I think it would harm the ability to communicate effectively if we take that word which is meant for a very specific usage and make it have a completely different meaning. Doing things like that will only lead to confusion.

"They" can be used as singular. Especially when you don't know the gender of someone.

True. I think my description of what I meant was confusing. Sorry, I'm not the best at explaining stuff like that. xD I think it's more that when you are talking to someone, it becomes really confusing when you're using terms like "they" or "we" to refer to the person you're talking to because of how they are normally used. You only use "they" when you're talking about plural or you're referring to someone who you aren't speaking to. If you're speaking to that person and you're also calling them "they," it can become confusing. Not to mention it would be extremely easy to slip-up and accidentally offend them because you didn't refer to them the way they wanted you to.

Straight - Female

I don't know if it's only me but sometimes i feel like some people take their "identification and gender" like it's the only thing that define who they are.
And i even been told that i couldn't know for sure SURE that i'm straight before i tried something else??
Seriously i don't know what's wrong with knowing what gender you are and the sex life you like?

Because i'm a girl who identify as a girl and actually enjoy heterosexual sex, means not that i'll judge others on whatever they identify.
