It's really nice, and cute. It's nice to know there are Muslim people that are open minded and are looking for ways to adopt the ideas and tastes of other cultures.

Sadly, I predict that some Imam, out there somewhere, will say that it is prohibited, and then they'll (the Muslim girls) will have to buckle under the repressiveness of their own culture and quit doing it.

You're completely mislead if you think all muslim countries are backward and repressive and that it has anything to do with culture.

to contribute to the thread, I think it's really cool.. Arabic fashion is usually completely different in style to this.

Yeah, usually when I think of Arabic fashion, I think of burkas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burqa

Sorry for being mislead...

I don't think i've ever seen one person wear a Burqa actually, but they could be classes as part of fashion or cultural dress.

Interesting. Be fun to see if they could maybe work more middle eastern styles into it.

Surprisingly enough Lolita fashion is compatible with the Islamic dress code because of their aims to decrease sexualisation. Two very different cultures that you'd never think would meet. Pretty cool. I prefer classic lolita over that sweet style she's wearing but she looks good.

You're not too far off. You have clothing like the abaya and kaftan which have the same silhouette as the burka since modesty is still at the core of their fashion, but as far as I'm aware they tend to be more decorated and colourful. As is the case with any spectrum you have countries like Saudi Arabia which are barbaric and impose strict dress codes, but there are also plenty which are fairly liberal so the diversity of clothing isn't as restricted as you might think.

I think they look cute. I don't like that some girls in the middle east are FORCED to wear head coverings, but hey, if they do it willingly, let them make the most of it. I almost bought a lolita dress, but they're absurdly expensive, so I instead spent less on yes, a designer purse instead. One of these days, I will get that lolita dress.

I don't think people realize that their's so much diversity in muslim culture. It would be foolish to think over 20% of the world dresses exactly the same. One of my college classmates who was from Saudi Arabia wore a head scarf and dressed modestly everyday, but she was definitely big into fashion. I went to school in Manhattan and she was referred to by nearly everyone as pretty and stylish.

Probably until she went back home to Saudi Arabia, and then she got back into her Burqa...
