80% of Tokyo citizens are opposed to the Olympics, more specifically the multi-billion dollar stadium that was designed, scratched, and now being re-designed. Olympic village is being moved outside Tokyo, and that means the athletes will have to travel farther. The oppositional lawmakers are against it, members of the Diet are against it.

I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few months a new place is chosen for the 2020 Olympics. It's not going to work in Tokyo. These things combined with the revelation that there has been major corruption in picking the locations make it seem like this is a disaster. It really is.

Problem is that nobody else wants it

China would probably want it, if they didnt have Beijing in '08.

China's stock market (and economy) just took the crapper; in this state even they probably won't take it.

I actually like the logo. It's nice and sharp with an abstract but appealing design.

I'm sure the games will be good for Japan in the usual sense of raising their global profile but it's not a surprise to hear that the citizens aren't too jazzed about the whole thing. It's pretty rare for the actual people living near the games to like all of the issues that come from hosting them, from the extreme expense to the hassles introduced to daily life. Will the games be good for Japan as a whole? Maybe. But will they be good for the daily lives of the Japanese people? Probably not so much.

I thought that was some kind of onigiri with a pimple.

Seems more like the flag of Japan now that I look at it again.

Didn't they have similar problems with the Chinese stadium tho? Like they kept redesigning it and redesigning it? Given, the Chinese one's already built, but I doubt Tokyo can back out now, since it's only a year away.

Olympic hosting is an expensive boondoggle but politicians love it because photo ops.
