People who collect weapons are sketchy as fuck to me. I had a buddy that was really into it and he was a pretty hard military kinda guy whos in the army know.

Look I think swords and guns are cool but I relegate that to watching anime, movies and videogames. I really think if you start wasting your money on goofy outdated weaponry you are just creepy in my book. I find anyone who collects things designed to hurt people to be kinda strange.

They probably wouldn't care. Just saying.

Honestly, blade collecting is a fine hobby, one that I participate in myself. The properties of different steels and forging techniques are very interesting. But when people collect things of low quality and pretend they are samurai...just...no...

Anybody who is past high school should be way past that stage. A sword ain't going to cut through trees and oil drums.

I suppose the pics are funny and mildly amusing, though.

Yeah, I only have two blades that I use with my gear, nothing special.

I dunno, the AKM type guns may be outdated, but they still work rather well. Same with the Mosin rifle

I have a few swords myself but I'm out of practice and no longer want to use them since they are a pain in the butt to sharpen. I handle them as though they are made of thin glass and oil/clean them religiously. Every time I want to sharpen them, I freehand with waterstones and it takes hours. And I have to replace the pegs every other time. Just not worth it.

I cook a lot and have a nice collection of waterstones and Japanese and Taiwanese kitchen knives. Oiling and maintenence of these is enough already. I don't understand people who pit their blades against hard, dense, or otherwise unsuitable targets. Their edges are surprisingly fragile and I can't stop myself from doing a new sharpening and polishing as soon as I notice dulling, micro-serrations, or scratches. Rust is the worst. I go crazy when someone uses one of my knives without permission and fails to wash and dry by hand as soon as they finish cutting. God, I also hate when people draw the point across cutting boards or use their fingers to test sharpness. It makes me want to hit them. Everything is carbon steel and each knife is easily $100+ or even $200+.

Yeah, I just have a multi-use 'hawk and a Hibben Machete. Well, I have other small things, but nothing to write home about. Just working tools that you know are going to get abused.

I have a few machetes as well and damage to those doesn't bother me nearly as much, although I always insist on keeping everything rust-free and sharp. Probably due to the prices. The most expensive machete I own cost a mere 20 or so dollars.

I collect pocket knifes o.O

It's just a hobby, and I only end up using one on a regular basis.i don't think it really has an impact on my personality, and my personality probably didn't lead me to collect knifes o.O

I actually started collecting knifes because one of my remodels collects knifes

There is a practical application to knives but useless hunks of sharp steel used millennia ago in brutal combat are a far cry from pocket knives.

I do get having a replica of a weapon or sword from something you like but an actual sharp weapon just comes across to me a pointless.
