Do you prefer prequel or sequel?

Just found out there is a prequel to Free! soon... but I don't like prequels.

Personally prefer sequels.

I guess I prefer prequels. I like to know what happens before. Plus, it makes you feel kind of excited to know and say "oooh, so that's how it happened!"

Very interesting question. But I'm gonna have to go with sequel. I enjoy having a continuation of the story. But a prequel is fine too since you can learn more about the backstory.

As long as I like the series I'll probably like both

I'm not fussy at all, so I'd more than likely end up liking both

I prefer new story. That said, there are some prequels nad sequels out there that work.
My biggest issue is that prequels don't have anything new to say because we already know where the narrative has to end up. No matter how great that story is, there is not sense of tension or anticipation because, well that character has to get through whatever is happening because we already watched them do x, y, z.
Sequels on the other hand have the issue of either reinventing the same plot with the same characters (dull), or they undermine the relationships and the narrative constructed by the original (annoying), or they have so little to do with the original they might as well have given the characters different names and claimed it to be a new story.

I feel like a prequel is just filler until a company can make a proper sequel. There isn't a problem with it, but I would prefer a sequel over a prequel.

honestly I prefer prequels. I like seeing the younger versions characters, inside jokes that didn't make sense explained, lore,etc...

Prequels for sure, I think its easier to build up a story to the point before the original plot line than after. Plus its always great to see that moment of "OH, thats why there that way/act the way they do"
