When I go to load the app on this device, it starts loading, and then when it would start to play, it just sits on a black screen not doing anything (buttons still work, but it won't play). It works fine on all my other devices (PC, Roku, Galaxy S6).

I'm not sure if it's just an issue with the new Android version, and since it's not officially out yet, I don't expect an immediate app update, but I was wondering if this was a known issue.

Installing beta software comes at the risk of not being able to use certain apps possibly.

That would be a valid point, but Android 6 was officially released on the 5th October, and this was installed via a normal software update.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that they had already put it out.
You put your post in a thread about the preview, so I instantly assumed you were using that.

Yeah, my bad. I couldn't find anything else mentioning Android 6, and since I'm seeing the exact same issue, I felt it better to keep the posts together rather than start a new thread.

I also realised that my previous post was a little terse. Sorry if that came across as rude - I'd just woken up :sweatingbullets:

I've raised the issue with CR support anyway, so I'll post back here once I have more info.

I'll report it from my end, no worries.
Can you give me a full error description?

Sure, here's a copy of the information I've sent to support so far.

Initial message:

I upgraded my Nexus 9 to Android 6 today, and now videos will no longer play. Upon selecting the episode, the video player starts and shows the correct times, but the video never starts playing. I've tried reinstalling the app.

I was then asked what browser I was using (wat?) so this was my reply to that:

I'm not using a browser, I'm using your Android app (version 1.1.7). I tried using a browser, however that doesn't work either since your web-player depends on flash.

The app itself was working fine prior to my upgrade to Android 6, and still works fine for me on another device running Android 5. Given that some others on the forum have reported similar issues with Android 6, I'm guessing there's some sort of incompatibility.

If that's the case, and given that Android 6 was released 7 days ago and is now being offered as a normal upgrade, I expect that more people are going to start reporting this issue.

PS) Are there any plans to move your web-player away from flash-based technology?

There is an open ZenDesk ticket for it too, but I have no idea what the ticket number is.

I'll close down the ticket, as my internal bug report is already on its way now.

I've also just reported the same issue using the support function in the app. Works fine on my Nexus 5 which just upgraded to Marshmallow yesterday but not my Nexus 9. Seems to be a device specific issue?

the last time this happened..... it only worked when lollipop was upgraded to 5.1 . Non of the crunchy roll updates fixed it. BUT crunchy roll should be able to test this device and see if its their problem or the OS....

or if they don't have the device they should work with one of us that does to do dev testing and give reports back.

Version 1.1.8 will hit the play store shortly and will address some Android 6.0-related playback issues.
