So I just watched angel beats again for the 10th time. I have to admit it's a good anime. But here is the part I don't get. So in the end of the anime basically everyone started to disappear. Let me rephrase that. They all "graduated" but here is what I don't get. So when they "graduated" do they go back and carry on with there normal lives before they died. So hence he got help from the train wreak and now lives a normal life. Here are my questions.

Did the main character get some of his memories back from the dead world?

Did the people that graduated go back to the normal life they have had before? Or did they get reborn?
-For this question makes me wonder because at the ending it seem he met or found someone that may look like angel and remembered.

Is there a manga or light novel for this anime because it seems I can't find it?

Thanks all who can help

I think they move on to Heaven or something.. cuz the setting didn't seem like paradise to me, so it was basically purgatory. As for the final ending, I think they get reincarnated.

As for the last question, I think they have a manga and visual novel adaption now, but it started out as an original studio project (the anime came first).

I've now moved it into Advice, Info, Recommendations since it's more specific questions the OP wants help with rather than a discussion of the show more generally.

I have not read the manga or light novel, so I admit my opinion is also only based on the Anime, that being said, don't hate on me because my opinion doesn't match with someone else.

I believe it was not heaven they moved on to or graduated, but rather reincarnated as new life on earth. My knowledge of various afterlife philosophies is poor, but I seem to recall many believe in reincarnation, what you do in your previous life determines what you become in your next. Anyway, not my point, my point is they reincarnated as someone new, and as the MC was walking along one day he passed a girl who was humming a tune (the new reincarnation of the girl previously played by 'angel'), and it triggered an 'unknown' memory. Its a romantic notion - love being transcendental regardless of whenever, where ever you are - your soul mate.

Angel Beats is an original anime, not based on anything else. It was planned in conjunction with a manga (Heaven's Door, which tells the story of the battle with Angel before the MC of the anime arrives), and also with a Visual Novel (which tells basically the same story, but in much more depth; the first part of the VN was recently released in Japan, and covers three of the arcs). Also, I read somewhere else that the anime was originally planned for a 24 episode run, but was cut in half fairly late in the production cycle--which is why the plot feels a bit rushed.

To answer your question, though, Angel Beats is steeped in a reincarnation view of the universe. The idea is that in their previous incarnation, these souls died tragically and prematurely (as children)--so they are allowed a stop-over in this school-yard Limbo in order to find the happiness and satisfaction that they were denied in their previous lives. Once they've achieved that, they will reincarnate again and start their lives over from scratch.

The hope, then, is that in their following lives (once they've moved on from this Limbo) these characters will be able to live the lives--and find the loves--that they were denied the previous time around. As ntrebooter says, it's a romantic "soulmate" notion: the souls that were once Otonoshi and Angel will be able to connect in their next lives, even if they don't exactly remember each other.

I'm sorry if I but this one the wrong thread it just that I believe how others talk about it it's like a general discussion. ntre I don't hate on people. I kinda agree with your opinion. It sounds very reasonable. So the place the anime took in was basically a Limbo.

Now this is my next questions. (sorry I'm kinda dumb)

What is this VN or visual whatever you guys are talking about?

You guys saw how they just said bye or something and they just disappeared right? So do they think of something they have achieved or once they achieve it they disappear?
-Because back in the story the girl who wanted to sing. Finally finished her song and graduated or when he plays a game of baseball and catches the ball so he graduated. But in the end the 5 left. Just hugged or cried etc. and they graduated so I'm kinda confused.

A Visual Novel is a kind of video game, that plays out like a choose-your-own-adventure novel.

Basically, you spend most of the time reading a story, and for each scene in the story their will be an appropriate change in the characters on the scree or the backgrounds. Some of them are voiced, and even fewer are animated--most of the pictures are characters are fairly static.

Periodically, you'll be asked to make choices. Which girl are you hanging out with more? Do you ask a lot of questions to get at the underlying mystery, or are you more interested in helping your friend with his problem? Are you going to respond in a considerate fashion to your friend with a problem, or are you going to be a jerk about it?

Depending on your choices, your character might fall in love with one of a number of people, or maybe you'll solve one of several mysteries (or not), or maybe you'll get a bad ending and get pushed off a building.

In the Angel Beats VN, you play as Otonoshi, and then there are different character routes that allow you to get close to different people, in order to fully explore their backgrounds and stories and to help them move on. In the first Angel Beats VN (there are 6 planned), there are three routes (Iwasawa and Yui--the first two leads of the band--, and Matsushita, the judo guy).

I know how you feel I have to watch it at least once every year because it's so good! Also as mention above there is a VN that goes more in depth with the story (although it took 5 years for them to finally release one). You can watch people play the trial version of it on YouTube ( with English subs) to see how it is. Also there is a second OVA that recently came out titled "Hell's Kitchen" unfortunately it's only included with the special Blu-ray DVD edition of Angel Beats that came out in Japan. Manga-wise there is a prequel to the anime series that tells the story of the creation of the Afterlife Battlefront (SSS), unfortunately again it's only in Japanese.
