i'm curious which was the anime that left you in need of more, it doesn't have to be your favorite anime, for example my favorite anime is The World God Only Knows but the anime that got me into this world was Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan

the one that led me into anime was witchblade.
it was just so different from anything id seen, both happy and sad in the same story, i was hooked. and her rockin body helped too.

School Rumble was my start. Was going through quite a dark period at the time and it helped me remember how simple the mechanics of smiling and laughing really are. The unconditional faith it seemed to have in some intrinsic goodness and pureness of people was hugely comforting, and I delved further into the medium from there.

I was reading Naruto and I heard that you could watch it with color, motion, etc... So I started watching, but it was way too long (too many episodes) and it was faster to read it, so I went back to reading it. That was my first contact with anime.

Usagi Drop.

I'd seen several shows before then--including some that I liked quite a bit--but it was Usagi Drop that really made me fall in love with anime.

You know, I'm not even certain anymore. Growing up as a child in the 80s, teen in the 90s I guess the straightest answer would be a combo of Voltron, Robotech, and later Speed Racer and G-Force on Cartoon Network. Plus the late night anime aired on the Sci-Fi Channel. Oh! Though I do recall renting a tape of Mazinger Z in the 80s - this being back when you could still find "mom & pop" store rental places, I'd guess it was a fan sub, but I dunno. I do remember that NGE and Record of Lodoss War were the very first series I actually bought.
