I kinda almost got the basics down. I have problems with correctly frying food, but I can use the microwave like a pro.

I really want to learn. Before I study in Japan it'll be a necessity if I'm gonna survive on any kinda budget.

Yup! Mum taught me how to cook Portuguese cuisine since I was 8! I've expanded my palette and can cook different cuisines ^_^

I know how to make pasta and stuff from mostly scratch. But I'm no where near as good as I'd like to be and probably never will be.

Yeah, my parents train us to do all kinds of house chores including cooking. Every Friday is my turn to cook but since I'll be leaving home soon for college, one of my brothers will probably take over my turn or my 8-year old sister (the youngest of six) will be forced to learn, though that's unlikely -she's a spoiled brat.

I could cook if I wanted to. However, I wouldn't be able to cook meat since I don't eat it and haven't cooked it in like 10yrs. lol
But I have become a Microwave genius!!

I can cook a little, but my husband does the lion's share. It's nice that either of us can cook though, so that we can easily take over for each other if we need to. I prefer baking to cooking, so I like to make cookies, breads, and that sort of thing since my husband needs the extra calories anyway (he has a very active job).

My two biggest weaknesses in cooking are chopping vegetables consistently and frying things. I cut myself trying to dice a tomato for bruschetta bread last week - but I blame that partially on my poor holding technique and that the knife was a bit dull so it slipped on the tomato skin. Luckily for me, my husband keeps the knives nice and sharp so it makes it a lot easier for me to cut things without hurting myself. I hate cooking/prepping in other people's kitchens when they don't bother to sharpen their knives regularly.

Tonight's dinner is gazpacho soup, which is so refreshing in the summer. Even better, we made it yesterday so the onions will have had time to mellow out with the other flavours in the soup.

Have you tried making seitan yet? It's so yummy and full of vegetarian protein. It's good as long as you don't have a gluten allergy. Much more protein than tofu.

I actually am the pickest vegetarian alive haha. I have never made seitan before but I have eaten and don't mind it. Tofu isn't very good but on rare occasions I have eaten it.
