It's about time!! I never saw the point of having a Google + account when you have other sites like Facebook or Twitter that are so much more popular...

Never understood the whole Youtube thing either.

YES!

You do not even know how frustrating that Google+ thing was for me on YouTube. They want me to use my real name and professional persona in my downtime when I just want to have fun - and I hated it.

And I also hate seeing all the people commenting with their real names and faces. It's just so boring and plain. I actually stopped commenting on a lot of videos because I sure as heck wasn't going to use my real name, but It was such a hassle to sign in and out of my other account.

Glad they're getting rid of this garbage.

So was I the only person who just made a Google+ account with my username I normally used and tied all of my Google stuff to it?

Seriously you didn't HAVE to use your real name or your professional persona. Just make a Google+ account to use for the purposes on intergration and you're good. If you weren't using Google+ itself anyway it's not like it should have mattered to you.

So honestly I kinda liked the integration since it did tie everything into one neat little package for me.

It's called competition and honestly Facebook needs it. Think about if no matter how much Facebook fucks with us or our privacy if there is no real alternative we can't do much. True Google+ didn't manage to really compete but I wish they had because now Facebook just has less competition to deal with and less reason to listen to user complaints.

Just to be clear I didn't really use Google+ either. But at the same time I don't really use Facebook either so I'm just not a big social network person in general.

Yea, you have a good point there...Facebook has become extremely big and there is no real social alternative that your friends or family are willing to try out or go to...

I feel I am forced to install facebook messenger simply because most of my friends and family refuse to text, call, or keep in touch another way.

Perhaps social media in general is getting a bit out of hand?

To this very day, I still don't understand how Google+ works Which is another reason why I hated the merger.

I'll try to explain it and since you seem to know how all this stuff worked, maybe you can figure out what actually happened

Essentially, my original YouTube account had liked videos, favorited videos, subscriptions, and comments that I wanted to preserve (primarily so that I have a convenient place to remember them).

Then the Google+ integration happened, and essentially i've been confused ever since.

It seemed like if i wanted to keep all that stuff, then I needed to link it to a google account or something? I think I actually did that. However, it was an account separate from the one I use for professional stuff. But the YouTube account was originally linked to Yahoo, I think, so I think I had to change emails or something?

Now they're separated, but I have 3 accounts I think. One with my real persona, another with my old persona, and a weird third one that's liked to my old one through Google, or something like that

This is probably another reason why I hated the merger is that I really didn't understand what the heck was going on lol. It was all so elegantly simple and they ruined it! But that's how I feel about all social media.

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Though these changes would be meaningless in my opinion unless you don't need to provide your phone number to create a Youtube account.
